Paddyohale's Talk Page

[edit]

In order to keep this legible and neat, please can anyone adding a new comment to this page post their comments below the last-posted comment, and separate different topics by a horizontal line (a separate line of four dashes). Any replies to comments in here can be nested underneath that comment. Hopefully this will then keep it neat and easily accessible to all.

Also, please don't delete or modify others' comments. If something needs to be removed - illegal/extremely offensive material, for example - then I shall remove it myself.

Thank you,

Paddyohale 22:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Hello, Paddyohale, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Some of your edits have been cricket related. You may wish to join WikiProject Cricket, a project on Wikipedia where cricket lovers collect, organise and improve all types of cricket material. Great minds think alike

[edit]

I was right about to add a warning message to User talk:24.34.144.231 but you beat me to the punch. Dspserpico 23:27, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I got bored and started looking at the Recent Changes page. Also, moved your comment to the top (well, below my intro one) as I think it looks neat and tidy and have nothing better to do... heh. Paddyohale 23:32, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to apologise for my brothers behaviour, he has since been disposed of...well i slapped him a few times and twisted his arm. I wish i was an only child sometimes. So i am not the same as my bro even though we support the same teams (Celtic/Villa) i respect the NPOV policies unlike him, who has a total disregard for any policy. So i'll say it again, I'm sorry. Iroquois Xavier 14:54, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well Paddyohale i dont need you to believe me, if you had an annoying brother then you would know that stalking is a speciality of theirs. We are both at that college to be precise and it was my brother who made the edits not me. I have already apologised about his actions and i thought that you would have the decency to accept, but you show your immaturity by making false accusations. In short I believe that you are a self-obsessed moron. However you do have good taste in music (Metallica Are Gods!) and you have similar interests so copying some of your userboxes and adding modifications seemed the efficient thing to do. Have A Nice Day :) Iroquois Xavier 12:45, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Total re-write of the main Physics page is in progess

[edit]

You might like to join us at Physics/wip where a total re-write of the main Physics page is in progess. At present we're discussing the lead paragraphs for the new version, and how Physics should be defined. I've posted here because you are on the Physics Project participant list. --MichaelMaggs 08:04, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! WikiProject Physics participation

[edit]

You received this message because your were on the old list of WikiProject Physics participants.

On 2008-06-25, the WikiProject Physics participant list was rewritten from scratch as a way to remove all inactive participants, and to facilitate the coordination of WikiProject Physics efforts. The list now contains more information, is easier to browse, is visually more appealing, and will be maintained up to date.

If you still are an active participant of WikiProject Physics, please add yourself to the current list of WikiProject Physics participants. Headbomb {ταλκWP Physics: PotW} 16:03, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to Wikipedia meetup in London

Date: 13:00 onwards, Sunday 10 August 2008

Venue: Penderel's Oak pub, Holborn WC1 map

More information: Wikipedia:Meetup/London 12

Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Yours,

James F. (talk) 09:27, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please forgive the slightly impersonal mass-invite!

London Wikimedia Fundraiser

[edit]

Good evening! This is a friendly message from Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry, inviting you to the London Wikimedia Fundraising party on 19th December 2010, in approximately one week. This party is being held at an artistic London venue with room for approximately 300 people, and is being funded by Ed Saperia, a non-Wikipedian who has a reputation for holding exclusive events all over London. This year, he wants to help Wikipedia, and is subsidising a charity event for us. We're keen to get as many Wikimedians coming as possible, and we already have approximately 200 guests, including members of the press, and some mystery guests! More details can be found at http://ten.wikipedia.org/wiki/London - expect an Eigenharp, a mulled wine hot tub, a free hog roast, a haybale amphitheatre and more. If you're interested in coming - and we'd love to have you - please go to the ten.wikipedia page and follow the link to the Facebook event. Signing up on Facebook will add you to the party guestlist. Entry fee is a heavily subsidised £5 and entry is restricted to over 18s. It promises to be a 10th birthday party to remember! If you have any questions, please email me at chasemewiki at gmail.com.

Hope we'll see you there, (and apologies for the talk page spam) - Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry (talk) 23:38, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IC Wikisoc!

[edit]

Dear Paddyohale, my name is Vinesh Patel, a 5th Year medic at Imperial. I'm trying to start an Imperial College Wikipedia society, presenting to the union by the end of the month. Would you be interested?

I got your username from the Category: Wikipedians by alma mater: Imperial College London page.

Here is a link demonstrating my work so far: http://www2.imperial.ac.uk/blog/reporter/2011/01/21/wikipedia-society/

My team and I want to get people working in groups for edits. Non-academic and academic edits would be great to work on in groups – an IC Wikipedia soc would be cool! This has already been achieved in the States but we would be the first student society in the UK. http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_student_clubs. We are also pursuing lots of other things – research into Wikipedia use, GLAM wiki stuff with local museums, using Wikipedia in teaching.

Whether you are a current student or alumnus, I think it would be great to get a community linked together from Imperial, which can give so much to the world’s free information because of the knowledge base here – and have fun doing it!

Myself and 6 other students are holding events at South Kensington campus Wed 9th and 16th; please get in touch at my talk page or e-mail to get into the movement in whatever capacity you can – you would be most welcome.Vinnypatel (talk) 02:00, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
