General secretary[edit]

Johnson's opinion notwithstanding, there is no way for outsiders to know what if any powers a position in the Chinese hierarchy might confer. Both Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping ruled the country as chairman of the Military Commission. They were able to appoint and dismiss various general secretaries. After a party event, Xinhua will run a news story that lists the party leaders in the order that they were seated. This is the best indication of who is running the country at any given time. When Jiang Zemin was chairman of the Military Commission and Hu Jintao was general secretary, the army newspaper ran an editorial called "the two centers" which sided with Hu. So it seems that being chairman of the Military Commission does not make you boss of the army. Great scott (talk) 17:05, 23 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pang Ka Kit, I am unfamiliar with the topic that Great scott is discussing above, however whatever Great Scott said should be considered unreliable and potentially abusive. Great Scott has been blocked from editing Wikipedia as sockpuppet account of a disruptive user.[1] They may try to return under a new username. Alsee (talk) 08:20, 9 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
