Viktor Bulla[edit]

Hello Paris, and thank you for the warm welcome. Thanks also for the advice about Maintenance Templates - as you can see, I'm still finding my feet as an editor! I shall read over the pages that you link to. Once again - thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mermish (talkcontribs) 03:27, 15 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Bingham article[edit]

If I understand you correctly, you put the NPOV template on because you thought the article was too sympathetic, rather than objective as required. The reason for my interest is that there is a constant war of words on http://en.mercopress.com/current-edition Material such as this article can be quoted. So when it seemed that there was a dispute I naturally wanted to find out what was being said. Is there a way to find out who the original author was? Might it have been Mike Bingham himself? Wouldn't that count as conflict of interest? Research I have done suggests that Mike Bingham is no slouch at computers and the internet. But it is supposition on my part. On the other hand, wiki is a popular target for certain argentines. As an example, you could look up the User contributions for Avargas2001. A blocked account because of the user's liking for malicious edits. Are there grounds to investigate this article to see if it was self-penned? The original author of the page is Doctorpleiades, who has no contributions aside from this article, which he/she posted to Wiki on 28 September 2011. This could very well be Mike Bingham, but, at my clearance level, there's no way to prove it. I don't understand why any Argentinians would vandalize this page, as Dr. Bingham was very critical of the government of the Falklands (or Malvinas, if you prefer). As for the Mercopress, what is the war of words about? Arguing about the islands' sovereignty? Or disagreements about which penguin residents are cutest?
