Your account has been blocked indefinitely because its username is a blatant violation of our username policy – it is obviously profane, threatens, attacks or impersonates another person, or clearly suggests that your intention is not to contribute to the encyclopedia (see our blocking and username policies for more information). We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, but users are not allowed to edit with inappropriate usernames, and trolling or other disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. If you feel this block has been made in error, you may appeal it by placing the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} on your user talk page. TNXMan 20:19, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

my email address is not an attempt to hurt anyone or be derogatory in any way. Honestly, is the word PISS so offensive? No. Plus, it is my NAME in the band LESION. I would like to add LESION to the wiki, but I am not sure how to setup a alternate entry for the word LESION. Any help would be appreciated. If you choose to still block my account because of the title of my email or the word PISS appearing in articles, so be it, but I will say that this is a distinct limitation of the Wikipedia. Thanks for listening. I hope you unblock me and let me continue editing. I am a smart person with a college education. I only aim at presenting information, not at causing harm in ANY way. Thanks. PP

Decline reason:

If you are in the band Lesion, your one edit was rather inappropriate because you were effectively advertising yourself. From the blurb you posted, which was overflowing with praise and thus quite inappropriate, I gather that Lesion has one album but has a substantial history of performing and some media coverage. So it might be appropriate for Wikipedia to cover Lesion or it might not; the true guidelines are at WP:MUSIC, but regardless it's inappropriate for the band itself to push for Wikipedia to cover it. See WP:BESTCOI for the kind of behavior you'll be expected to adhere to should you be unblocked and want to continue editing about yourself.Pisspromise (talk) 21:09, 26 March 2009 (UTC)pp24[reply]

Ok, as for the username: in my opinion "Pisspromise" is no big deal but it's certainly somewhat distasteful at least. If you are willing to change it it'll be easiest for everyone that way. If you aren't, I believe you should be given the chance to explain your username at a request for comment, before the decision that it is inappropriate is finalized. It's certainly not outright trolling, though, so I'm reducing your block to a soft block that will allow you to log out and create a new name on your own. If you want this account to be unblocked and renamed, we can do that too if you specify what username you want so we can check that the new one is appropriate. In wikipedia terms the word "piss" is ofensive, yes. would you be happy editing wikipedia using a different username? --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 20:44, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Hi Anthony, first off, let me apologize for being new to the wiki and not being so on top of the good practices, etc. I have no problem changing my user name. Totally fine. Can you make my user name pp24? I hope the email address is ok still, as I would like to use that one for my work here. In regards to the band LESION, yes, I am in the band. I was not trying to promote us other than have us as an entry. I used copy from our press release that might read to flattering. I could easily work up a more objective factual piece on the band. The band has 4 albums, a ton of singles, and around 20 short films we have created. We have existed since 1998 and have played with many big acts including moe., tenacious D, the Panzy Division, and many more. I understand that it might be poor practice for the band to cover itself, so I suppose I could get someone else to do it. We are a historic band in NYC and deserve to be on the Wiki. Thanks for your response and thoughts. I appreciate putting me on a soft block. I hope we can resolve these issues. Thanks again, PP. (ps. between me and you I guess piss could be slightly offensive, but in this world today it hardly seems a reason to censure content. Other words, yes. Piss, eh.

See below - you've evidently been unblocked and renamed. Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:36, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have contacted the blocking admin, which is the normal wiki procedure. May I suggest that you might be advised not to post articles about the band? --Anthony.bradbury"talk" 22:09, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Anthony. Again, it is fine to change my user name to pp24. As far as entering something about the band. Is it ok if I have someone else, not in the band, do it? We are mroe than worthy of being on the wiki, especially considering some of the content you already have up. Again, how does one enter information on an existing word like LESION. Does the user enter it on the existing page? I would think there is a way for a user to create a new page. Thanks again.

You are unblocked[edit]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

You seem to be here to make good-faith contributions. However, I would echo Anthony.Bradbury and urge you to avoid any conflicts of interest with regards to your band.

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I am here to help spread knowledge of things that are factual. Not to do horn-blowing.Pisspromise (talk) 22:21, 26 March 2009 (UTC)pp24 (will be my name soon)[reply]

New account recommended[edit]

Though he is unblocked, I still recommend that this editor create a new username. The one he has now could be perceived as offensive by many of our contributors. The proposed name 'pp24' sounds fine to me. Click on the button at the upper right of your screen to create a new account. EdJohnston (talk) 22:23, 26 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
