Please do not post adverts
[edit]The advice you received above, four days ago, was correct. Please stop, or re-write your contributions so that they are neutral and clearly indicate why the company you mention is notable. Have a look at WP:CORP--MichaelMaggs 17:37, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
It's OK if you want to write original neutral articles that provide verifiable information about companies. Articles written in an obviously promotional tone, however, are not acceptable. Take a look at how I've rewritten the Microtel article. Gazpacho 21:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
Do not blank your talk page
[edit]Blanking your talk page is considered extremely rude. It is also pointless since the content is still available in the edit history.
I shall not bother to list the hotel articles which I have listed for deletion as copyvios. Stop spamming Wikipedia or you will be blocked, If your hotels are notable, other people will write articles about them. Go away and place your adverts on Wikitravel. -- RHaworth 04:24, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- RHaworth doesn't have any authority to tell you go to away and not make articles. All he can do is mark an article for deletion if he believes it can't be salvaged. Gazpacho 01:46, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- I think it is fine to blank your talk page. The people who are attacking you are obviously very ignorant about design. Cloachland 04:05, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
Writing articles
[edit]Hi again Plin. There's no problem, in principle, with writing articles about hotel chains you may be connected with. You just need to phrase the text in such a way that it doesn't sound like advertising, and that you mention one or two things that are 'notable' (see WP:CORP). The idea is to write a neutral article that would be useful and interesting for someone who wants to find out more about the chain and its history (as opposed to someone who wants to book a room). Also, as you'll have seen, it's not permitted simply to copy and paste text from other websites, even where you may have written the text yourself. The reason is that Wikipedia can't tell whether the website owner or someone else may have copyright in the original article - see Wikipedia:Copyright FAQ. It's fine, though, to re-write information found elsewhere provided you do so in entirely your own words. Happy editing. --MichaelMaggs 18:59, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Hmm.. are you sure that was the article title? That one was deleted by another admin back in September because it was a copyright violation. --Fang Aili talk 21:44, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh I see, K12 Inc. (with a period). I can't restore the article because it contains copyright violations from http://www.k12.com. It has been deleted several times for that reason, and it's spammy-sounding besides. Thank you, Fang Aili talk 22:02, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- I found copyright violations, and it sounds like spam to me. I cannot in good conscience restore it at this time. If you wish, you can take this to WP:DRV. I can help you set that up if you like. --Fang Aili talk 15:35, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
- I would realy appreciate it if you could help me set it up. Thanks so much! --Plin 21:21, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Shore Club Hotel
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Shore Club Hotel, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
