A note about articles covering gender-related controversies
[edit]This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in gender-related disputes or controversies or in people associated with them. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}}
on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Then you need to pay attention to how your words are perceived by others. There are words that were, if not acceptable, common 60 years ago that get people blocked on sight now. When somebody tells you that a phrase has a negative connotation, listen to them. If you double down on using the phrase, expect people to conflate your use of the phrase with holding the same views as those who (ab)use the phrase, whether you do or not.
The last time I saw an issue like this play out on Wikipedia, a user was interested in topics including World War II and mass killings of Jewish people. They stated that was a topic of interest for scholarly research. Unfortunately, they chose the phrase "holocaust enthusiast" to describe themselves. When pointed out how that sounds like they support the mass killings, they doubled down on how that wasn't what they meant, even if that was what everybody else heard. That user is now indefinitely blocked.
Gender and sexuality is a hot-button issue on Wikipedia and beyond. In all bluntness, you may want to voluntarily step away from that area until you get more experience on Wikipedia and understand its guidelines and behavioural expectations. In a worst case scenario, you could end up excluded from editing any articles or talk pages related to gender disputes and controversies, broadly construed—if not an outright exclusion (see WP:Blocking policy) from editing anywhere on Wikipedia. —C.Fred (talk) 17:48, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- I understand. And believe me, I have some experience in Wiki. Not in English one though. That is why I did not edited anything, just asking some questions on "talk" page. I listen, when people say: "this word is offensive for me", but I would like to understand "why". Wikipedia is all about knowledge, not emotions. Anybody can perceived anything as offensive. And I do not think that this is right. If somebody believes that simple historical fact is offensive...hmm... just to use your example: I believe that we are still allow to say: "Germans did the Holocaust" or we are afraid that Germans will feel offended? But we just reach Godwin's law, so let us stop here. Have a beautiful day ~~ Pnarkiew (talk) 18:18, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
