Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Margrethe II, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please note per Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines#Editing others' comments: "It is not necessary to bring talk pages to publishing standards, so there is no need to copy edit others' posts." Guidance for copyediting[edit]

Thanks for your improvements to the grammar on articles here. There are a few places where you shouldn't copyedit, though:

  • when it is a talk page (user or article), and you would be altering another editor's words (e.g. [1],[2])
  • when the content is quoted material (e.g. [3])
  • when it is a named reference, which relies on exact spelling and capitalization to be matched (e.g. [4])

Otherwise, the improvements are a good help, and I look forward to more of them. signed, Willondon (talk) 23:24, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
