License tagging for File:Pro Mach Inc Corporate Logo.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pro Mach Inc Corporate Logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 17:07, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help me!

[edit]

We're asking for help in determining why a page we contributed to was deleted and how we can get it undeleted/restored. We're unsure why this content was removed.

The page was for Pro Mach (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pro_Mach)

Thank you.

Ppeolidt (talk) 20:44, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It has been deleted because it read like marketing copy. I can restore the page and move it to a draft for you to work on improving it, if you will undertake to comply with the conflict of interest guideline and related requirements, including submitting the draft for review by an independent reviewer when you think it is ready, rather than moving it back as an article yourself. JBW (talk) 21:05, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That would be appreciated, JBW. We would appreciate if your can restore it to draft form so we can revisit. Can you provide specific example as to which parts read more like "marketing copy"? The intent of this page is to have a historical record of the company and what it does, not for promotion.
Also, please advise on how to submit that for independent review.
Thanks again and much appreciated. Ppeolidt (talk) 21:08, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, perhaps "it read like marketing copy" was overstating the case, but the general impression of the article is that it's written to give the reader a favourable impression of the company. Since it is an overall impression, it's difficult to pin down particular parts. You say that your intention was to have a historical record of the company. The article certainly achieves that, but you may like to consider whether a typical general reader of an encyclopaedia really wants so detailed a history of all the company's takeovers. Anyway, I have undeleted the article, and you can now find it at Draft:Pro Mach. There's a large "Articles for Creation" notice on the page, with a link near the bottom to submit it for review. You may like to look at Wikipedia:Articles for Creation, though I'm not sure whether you will find it very helpful. JBW (talk) 09:27, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response. Given what you've stated, this request is for you to reconsider the deletion of the Pro Mach page and reinstate it with the latest updates published on February 14, 2024. The following directly addresses your stated concerns above:
First, and most importantly, this page has lived on this site for 13 years with no previous concerns or actions related to the same types of content updates that have been published over that period of time. Why this action for deletion was taken now is confusing and feels inconsistent.
Additionally, the Pro Mach page was modeled after other companies that showcase their own history (which includes acquisitions and mergers as they've grown). Here are two examples of other companies currently listed in Wikipedia that were referenced as having similar approaches to what was published for the Pro Mach page, which includes their history of acquisitions and mergers:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danaher_Corporation
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berkshire_Hathaway
The same type of perceived impression that you cite as a concern for the Pro Mach page could also be applied to the examples above. However...
Addressing the perception of 'favourable impression', the entire third paragraph/section pertaining to various rankings (ProMach has been listed nine times...) could be completely removed to alleviate that specific concern. That seems like a reasonable revision to remove that impression.
Again, given the above, this request is for you to republish the page as updated and published (with the removal of the third paragraph as stated above) so that it is live and viewable again.
Thank you. Ppeolidt (talk) 15:39, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Just following up on my previous message to see where this stands. Thank you. Ppeolidt (talk) 23:27, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
