Speedy deletion of Jordan Francis

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Jordan Francis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 06:25, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~ I deleted your recent article because it did not provide independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines, and was also written like an advertisement. I also blocked the page from recreation because it has been deleted twice previously. If you think you can produced an acceptable referenced version, write it here and let me know Jimfbleak (talk) 06:47, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Article

[edit]

I read your note to Jimflbleak about Jordan Francis. If he doesn't restore the article so you can finish it, I recommend you create the whole article at one time, using the "Show Preview" page to make sure it looks nice, then hit Save Page. Make sure you say why this person is notable, that is what you got deleted for last time. I saw enough on the Internet Movie Database to make him clearly notable - 2 TV shows where he appears as a regular character for over 10 episodes each is more than enough. Also, be sure to follow the guidelines in WP:BLP and use the BLP-related talk-page templates. Be sure to read WP:PILLARS also.

You may want to look at some examples:

  • Jasmine Richards is a bad example, it's worded more like a fan-boy writeup or list of trivia than an encyclopedia.
  • Aaryn Doyle is a bit better but it could use a lot of improvement for style.

Both have charts outlining their work and infoboxes, which are very good things to have. Aaryn has a photo - be careful with photos, see WP:COPYRIGHT. It's better to hold off a day or so before uploading a photo for an article like this, in case someone tries to speedily delete the article as has already happened.

Your best examples will come from the Wikipedia Featured Articles list. Wikipedia:Featured articles#Media has several actors and actresses. If you can model your article after the ones in that list, it will be a good thing. FAs are the best-of-the-best of what Wikipedia has to offer at any given time.

Good luck. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 11:19, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Page blocked from re-creation

[edit]

I didn't realize Jimfbleak blocked the page from re-creation. Do what he recommends and he'll move your work to the page for you. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 11:22, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How to find out who is editing an article

[edit]

When you are reading an article, or for that matter any page, if you click on the History link at the top of your screen, it will give you the edit history. Users who are numbers are non-logged-in users. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 11:19, 20 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Answers to your questions

Read WP:PILLARS and WP:LOP and the policies, especially WP:LIVING and most of your questions will be answered. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 03:18, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jordan Francis

[edit]

I fixed up the date formats. I'll check again tomorrow to see if you've added anything.

Also, I need a citable source for the birth information. I'd prefer something more reliable than a blog. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 04:03, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is moved to Jordan Francis. Another editor is questioning the year of his birth so I flagged the birth information as {{fact}}. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 14:19, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Birth dates are supposed to be on biographies *if* they are available from reliable sources. If they are not, then they can be removed. This is occasionally done for historical figures and minors, as is the case here. If you know for a fact the current birthdate is wrong and you don't have a reliable source for one, then just remove it. Just put a note in the Edit Summary that you are removing a known-incorrect birthdate. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 13:29, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

==Proposed deletion of Jordan Francis==

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Jordan Francis, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
