October 2023[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "TigerQueensNewYork", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it implies shared use. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. Greatly appreciate the feedback. Would the ″imply of shared use″ be because of the name "Queens", as in plural for Queens? The Queens in this name refers to Queens, New York. Either or, it's no big deal to change it. Thank you. TigerQueensNewYork (talk) 21:45, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ah yes, I read the name as "Tiger Queens [of] New York", not "Tiger [of] Queens, New York". That's probably because I saw your edits to The Tiger King and thought the name was some play on that! I guess if I made the mistake, others could do to - thanks for changing it! Dorsetonian (talk) 10:50, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Louisville, Kentucky did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Best to explain why you're removing something from an article, including even red links, which are normally there to indicate a potential article. Stefen Towers among the rest! • Yes, thank you for message. I usually always do check the minor edits box, but I guess this time, I forgot to do so.

  • Should I also an edit summary for minor edits? Thank you for the knowledgeable insight into red links as well.
QueensNewYorkTiger (talk) 00:25, 21 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Removing links, even if red, may not be seen as minor by everyone. Fixing a typo or doing general cleanup usually is. I like to see an edit summary with every edit (even if it's just "typo"), but if you're doing something as simple as removing spaces that don't belong, or removing an extra comma or period, I don't think most would expect to see an explanation. The bottom line is that edit summaries explain what you're doing so other editors can more readily understand why the change was made. Hope this helps. Stefen Towers among the rest!
