Ducommun[edit]

I don't see where Red Blood Sandman "authorized" anything...and I'm not quite sure what you mean by that anyway. The primarysources tag is valid because the only source currently in the article is www.ducommun.com. The conflict of interest tag is valid because the entire article was written by someone on the board of directors. --OnoremDil 14:17, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just got your emails...and if it is alright with you, I prefer to communicate on-wiki. That helps to avoid things like my earlier confusion over Red Blood Sandman's involvement. I don't necessarily have a problem with the content you've added, but the information needs to be verifiable with reliable sources. The only link in an article can't be to the companies website. I've removed the conflict of interest tag as a gesture of good faith, but I do believe that the article needs independent sources before the other tag is removed. --OnoremDil 14:52, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just a couple of points for Onorem: 1) emails were a good method of communication here since the user was blocked 2) I did not mention the sources issue since it seemed to all be information that would be sourced somewhere and the article was never properly sourced anyway (it was created by me when I myself was still finding my way around). I felt this user had probably had enough trouble for the time being. Blood Red Sandman (Talk) (Contribs) 07:46, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ducommun[edit]

It seems that my entry has stirred up a fair amount of comment, having yesterday discussed the situation with another of the Wikipedia editors, Red Blood Sandman. As mentioned to him, I thought it appropriate to elaborate on a story that many have found of interest, resolving factual inaccuracies and providing more detail. He very graciously authorized the restoration of the text that I provided, giving me the following guidance:

_____________________________

Part of the problem was that the entry had the look of being copied from a corporate history or something similar from official company materials. I would generally have checked to see if it was indeed, and if not copy-edited for style and formatting (not your fault; you'll get used to these things in time, no-one turns up and knows exactly how everything is done) but for the fact that your username matched the company in question. We frequently get spammers coming onto Wikipedia and while I was surprised such a big company was doing it openly it wouldn't be unknown.

I will go straight from this email and unblock your account. I'll replace the block template with a standard welcome message; that gives lots of useful links. Sorry for the confusion, but please understand we have to stay tough on spammers. To help prevent future confusion, although not vital, I would recommend you create a user page (at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:RDucommun) in order to explain the situation. We also prefer it if you declare any potential conflicts of interest.

Being new to the world of Wikipedia, I respectfully ask how you would like me to address your concerns, certainly wanting to comply with the editorial standards that have been established. All I am trying to do is to complete the record in objective fashion having mistakenly (I guess) established a User Name that closely resembles the Company's name.

Ducommun[edit]

Thanks for your response, and the removal of the "conflict" citation. Very much appreciate it.

Suggest this web site as a third party source..... which also cites a number of published business articles from the 1980s and 1990s. I am not sure that it meets the Wikipedia standard, but hopefully it is a start.
