June 2022[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "DataInsightNZ", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. -- Cosmic (talk) 22:23, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there,
I am trying to set up a Wikipedia page for the company I work for and honestly I have no idea what I am doing. DataInsightNZ (talk) 22:26, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So you're making a wikipedia article on the company? -- Cosmic (talk) 22:30, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
trying too! The CEO sent me an email asking for it to be done. We are one of New Zealand's leading data analytics companies and I wanted to write an article about us. DataInsightNZ (talk) 22:37, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page, User:DataInsightNZ, has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be advertising which only promoted or publicized someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. June 2022[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. SpencerT•C 22:50, 12 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Rename from "DataInsightNZ" to "R Jones - Data Insight NZ"[edit]

Renamed from "DataInsightNZ" to "R Jones - Data Insight NZ". However, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with encyclopedia articles. It is not the place to set up a "company page." Please read and heed WP:PAID and WP:COI. You will not be unblocked to promote your company. Best, --Deepfriedokra (talk) 04:35, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You should also inform your CEO who tasked you with creating an article that companies are not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because they exist. They must meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for companies, which requires that the company has already received significant coverage from multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 05:56, 13 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
