Overlinking in articles[edit]

Hello! I'm Netherzone. I wanted to let you know that I reverted your edit to Ray Davies because it introduced multiple, unnecessary wikilinks of common words that do not need to be linked. See WP:OVERLINK for more information. If you have made similar edits on other articles, please consider undoing those that link common words like "singer," "musician," "songwriter," "television" and the like. Thank you! - Netherzone (talk) 17:32, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Netherzone. Please read MOS:OVERLINK. Common English words like actor, singer, etc. should not be linked, because nearly all English speakers understand them, and the linked articles will not help the reader to understand the article in which they are linked. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:30, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, noted. I won't link the common terms. --Raeutriam (talk) 18:31, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reflist[edit]

Also, please do not add a column parameter to the reflist tag. It is automatic, and the parameter you are adding is deprecated. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:33, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thank you for the information. --Raeutriam (talk) 18:36, 20 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Citations tagging[edit]

Hello. One more suggestion: Before you tag an article with One Source, or some other tag requesting footnotes, please check to see if it already has a tag for more or less the same thing, and if so, please don't add a redundant tag (or else, choose which tag is most fitting and just tag it with one tag). It doesn't help to have multiple tags that all basically say, "needs more footnotes". If the article has External links that really should be used as in-line citations, the best tag is the In-line tag. Also, there is no point in tagging a stub. Stubs, by their nature, all need more footnotes, so everyone already knows this. Happy editing. -- Ssilvers (talk) 18:49, 21 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Noted, thank you for the suggestion. --Raeutriam (talk) 07:51, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

Thank you for your recent edit to the Jennifer Gray article. What is missing from the five categories in place? Please explain. Tim riley talk 14:47, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In the absence of an explanation I have reverted your edit. Tim riley talk 19:21, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate that you are new, but do not add the "improve categories" tag to articles unless they don't have any categories. If you see an article that needs a particular category added, just add it. You would be much better off not searching for articles to add repetitive changes to. Instead, find an article that you care about, and work on improving it. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:00, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I heartily concur with Ssilvers's advice. You clearly mean well, but don't blunder in and disrupt well established articles. Tim riley talk 23:11, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for all the troubles. I already started an article myself and will only focus on improving it instead of editing other articles. Thank you again. --Raeutriam (talk) 07:50, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
