Speedy deletion nomination of John C. Tully

[edit]

Hello RandomSci,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged John C. Tully for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 01:55, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Status and Advice

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, the above is of course totally incorrect, and I removed the tag. The relevant criterion is WP:PROF, and he meets it as a member of the NAS. I've explained things to the editor who placed the tag.

However, the second paragraph was copied from his webpage. We never do that--it's a copyright violation--I removed that part. The article needs expansion. Please add his basic bio---where and when he was born, education from HS onwards, add links to him fro the p. of notable graduates of his high school and universities, and include a list of his 4 or 5 most cited papers, with counts from web of science or if necessary google scholar. Also add his major honors, but just the major ones. For each, try to give a third party references to it. Include especially a reference to his festschrift, giving full publication data. It's worth doing right. DGG ( talk ) 08:57, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
