politicization
Doesnt really belong on the talk page, but in case you were interested in my response, here it is: I largely agree with you on how things should be, but you have to acknowledge how things are today, by apparent consensus. I once suggested news articles be banned entirely from ARBPIA, you would simply have to wait until these things were covered academically to write about them. But that isnt the Wikipedia we edit in today. The Wikipedia we edit in today has an article on 2018 Ariel stabbing, an article on 2018 Barkan Industrial Park shooting, an article on 2017 Har Adar shooting, an article on 2017 Halamish stabbing attack. Every single act of violence by a Palestinian an article is created for. And they are invariably kept at AFD. If that is the standard for inclusion, then this meets that by a mile. You're focusing on one of the tiny minority of articles that attract that "politicization" because of what I feel to be the actual imbalance here. There are no "pro-Palestinian" editors on Wikipedia. There are editors who edit from a perspective of an international perspective, but nobody pushing a Palestinian nationalist party line, Hamas, Fatah, whoever or whatever faction. So the articles that are routinely and consistently created to attempt show an imbalance of violence, an imbalance that is such an absurd distortion of reality that it boggles the mind, never really get much heat. But there are certainly pro-Israel editors. And when something like this happens in which Israel is largely condemned such editors bring that political need to defend to an encyclopedia article. nableezy - 17:25, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
- I agree entirely that notability has long gone by the wayside. This, and the tendency of adversary editing to inflate every pip of an incident into a mountain is what has rendered Wikipedia a totally unreliable source on the matter of the conflict.
- As for this incident being a crossing of the Rubicon - the Rubicon has been crossed so many times already that the whole region has turned into a muddy swamp. --Ravpapa (talk) 02:52, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
