Hey this is fun!

• I make a helpful contribution, a reference to Flyin' Miata in the Lotus Seven article, and it's reverted next day with no comment. No explanation or anything. Why?
• I clean up some existing factual information about the United States Secretary of State, it's spotted, and deleted forthwith. Why?

  I realise now that Clinton wasn't confirmed until after Obama took office, so the clause should have read who is expected to be superseded by Hillary Clinton when President Elect Obama takes office in early 2009. The detail is moot. The process is not.

It's impolite, because no explanation was given in either case. I don't expect a full essay -- a couple of words would help. I shouldn't have to guess, because that could lead to a misinterpretation of Wikipedia policy. Others might see that this was done, and follow suit, reverting other valuable(?) contributions. Personally, I'm not at risk of this, because I don't believe in taking away from the body of knowledge without serious soul searching. Even if it's a link to an easily found kit car manufacturer, or a half-sentence relating some significant current event.

Now, it didn't take much time to research and make those edits, but I hope this isn't the way of Wikipedia, or I might not bother to contribute more significant editorial in future. If a significant edit (such as I made to the Solar storm of 1859 article) were to be reverted without comment, I'd take offence. Wouldn't you?
