Technically that's not a CSD a7 -- the article is about a single, not about a band. (The rule should probably be changed, though...) Iknowyourider (t c) 17:37, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First World Problems

[edit]

It's protected against recreation now. Hope that helps :) Riana (talk) 13:06, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article is not patent nonsense. It's a non-notable neologism, which is not really appropriately handled by the criteria for speedy deletion. Would you be willing to nominate it at articles for deletion? I could do it too, if you'd like. Leebo T/C 16:09, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Go ahead and nominate it. I'll comment in the discussion. I believe it has enough context to avoid CSD A1 deletion, but that's somewhat subjective. Leebo T/C 16:12, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption

[edit]

Hi I've been a Wikipedia member for several years, only usually attempting minor edits such as spellings etc. I am fairly experienced with computers - mainly within Windows. My internet scripting only goes as far as a decent knowledge of HTML.

I have tried creating a new article (sorry I didn't know you couldn't just create a new article without trying it out first), without success.

I am very keen to learn how to edit properly and would wonder if you would consider mentoring me?

Thanks

Tom Ayres

There was nothing in particular. I was just hoping to be taught the basics, and then the 'not-so-basics'. Is adoption an ongoing thing? Also, is the goal to become a "proper" or "experienced" editor?

Cheers - will do.

Blanked articles

[edit]

Hello again, Wildthing. I've deleted a couple of articles that you tagged for speedy deletion with {{db-nocontext}} that were blanked by the creators. These can be tagged with {{db-blanked}} and deleted under criterion G7, because blanking is considered equivalent to an author's request for deletion. Keep up the good work finding and tagging articles, and happy editing! Leebo T/C 19:24, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Conservapedia, Uncyclopedia, and CreationWiki which are all silly sites get a page, why doesn't the evo wiki?--Uncle J 20:32, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is notable, why does creation wiki and Conservapedia get a page? I'll add more to it, give me a break I just started it --Uncle J 20:35, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nah, I'm not going to be doing that, someone just deleted it anyways, I give up, I'm not going to waste my time re-creating something that will just be deleted again. --Uncle J 20:38, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

tut, tut had one bad word, but 2105 was O.K. Also, no one deleted those articals that have curses in them!! Why not???

Neologism nonsense

[edit]

The best thing to do for neologism articles that are coherent, but non-notable, is to propose deletion, because none of the criteria for speedy deletion really fit them well. It's kind of annoying, but until there's a consensus on these types of deletions, they shouldn't be deleted as nonsense. Also, thanks for reading my rant :) I didn't expect anyone to read it that quickly. Leebo T/C 19:42, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I blocked him for three hours since he was blocked for it yesterday, but I still think you should make a good-faith effort to help him do what he wants to do, or direct him to articles he might be interested in editing, per this edit[1]. Daniel Case 14:50, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a little confused as to why you think making a stub for Curse of the Queerwolf is inappropriate. It is a film, and can be expanded by those so inclined. What policy do you feel this stub has violated? Jeffpw 21:10, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion

[edit]

I disagree, he is doing this to further abuse me and according to the rules that he says he follows this is eligible and I quote,

A Wikipedia article, page, category, redirect or image created for the sole purpose of disparaging its subject is an attack page. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, these pages are subject to being deleted by any administrator at any time. Non-administrative users who find such pages should add the db-attack tag upon encountering them and the user who created them warned with {uw-attack|page}.

Disagreeing

[edit]

Wildthing I disagree with your statement "vandals...got to love them...or not. Because with out such vandals many people may not vome on to wikipedia. Face it, I bet half of people that come to wikipedia don't do edits, they do v andalizm, or nothing. So a lot of the people that do do edits also do vandals. So with out vandals not many edits would be made. Tell me what you think on my user page user:sanderson57.

You are right, that is funny hahaha, I wish I thought of that before I took the time to write all that.

Its fine...

DC Meetup notice

[edit]

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Maryland, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 00:27, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed on the DC meetup page your comment about a Baltimore meetup. I would like to organize or help organize one. Interested? Dfmclean 15:50, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, but how exactly is one supposed to gauge interest? That part of the process is terribly unclear. Anyway, I like to think of myself as a harmless flake. (http://despair.com/teamwork.html) Dfmclean 16:43, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About my article...

[edit]

It was the first one i'd ever written fo Wiki, and i'd only just opened my account a few days earlier.

Why was it deleted? i'd followed all protocol as carefully as possible. i'm an author myself and therefore my article was very well written and in proper language, if i may say so. Your screen name was shown to me as the one removing it.

Would you contact me please? Explain this and what i can do.

List of minor characters in Chaotic and Warnings

[edit]

I haven't recieved any other warnings, and I just started that page. I was going to add more to it, but I didn't have time. Anyway I haven't recieved any other warnings, and how is that page (List of minor characters in Chaotic) inappropriate? I was planning to add more, but i ran out of time. There are other pages with lists of minor characters for other shows.TheDalek 18:34, 18 July 2007 (UTC) (also, im not sure why this is appearing under that userbox)[reply]

An important letter

[edit]

Dear roads editor,

You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.

This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.

After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.

The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.

In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.

For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.

In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.

All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.

In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Regards,

WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! USRD Inactivity check and news report

[edit]

Hello, Wildthing61476. We had a few urgent matters to communicate to you:

  1. Please update your information at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Roads/Participants, our new centralized participant list. Those who have not done so by October 20th will be removed.
  2. There are important discussions taking place at WT:USRD relating to whether WP:USRD, WP:HWY, or the state projects should hold the "power" in the roads projects.
