Categories[edit]
Hello. Regarding this recent edit of yours [1], I noticed you attempted to add an item directly to a category page.
In Wikipedia, we do not add articles to a category by editing the category page, we add them by editing the individual articles' pages and linking the category from there. Please see Wikipedia:FAQ/Categorization#How do I add an article to a category? For newer editors, it's understandably a counter-intuitive system.
Category pages are not intended to be exhaustive lists. They are navigation aids; merely groupings of related, existing English Wikipedia pages.
To categorize an article, first make sure it actually belongs to the category. Then, go to the article and add the category at the bottom of the page. To remove an article from a category, edit the article and remove the category. For instructions on how to do all this using VisualEditor, see Help:VisualEditor § Editing categories.

- After some research, it does not have an article, but it is in Wikipedia. Go to the Jamestown Settlement article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamestown_Settlement) and the 3d sentence of the 2d paragraph contains a link to the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. When clicked the link took you the Yorktown-Victory-Center, the previous name for the museum, and was not working. I corrected that link and the link to footnote 4, also no longer working. - Right. Your changes corrected the external link to the museum's wesite. That does indeed work now, thanks for fixing that:) But we don't categorize external links. We have no system that categorizes external links. They are just directly linked within relevant articles as you have described. --DB1729talk 05:47, 16 December 2022 (UTC)
