Ryan, Scott, this draft is a good starting point and I can tell you did work on it. Here is my feedback:

Introductory paragraph
I would begin by crediting Shirky and simplifying the opening sentences like this:

"Mass Amateurization is an expression popularized by media theorist Clay Shirky to refer to the capabilities that networked media give to non-professional users to produce and distribute content and services that may compete with those produced and distributed by professional organizations. Examples include the rise of blogs and citizen journalism, photo and video-sharing services such as Flickr and YouTube, user-generated encyclopedias like Wikipedia, and distributed accommodation services such as Airb&b. While the social web is not the only technology responsible for the rise of mass amateurization, Shirky claims that the Web 2.0 has allowed groups to undertake increasingly complex tasks that are coordinated by managers within an institutional setting [reference needed]. Because the Web 2.0 builds coordination into the infrastructure--through features such as tags, trackbacks, and hashtags--users can collaborate and solve problems without having the need of being coordinated by a managerial class.

Background
In this section I would explain what are the historical precedents of mass amateurization. In particular, I would consider amateur photography, CB radio, amateur film (Super8) and video (each of these could form a subsection).

I would follow the historical section with one titled "Mass Amateurization and the Internet." Clarify that the Internet fosters disintermediation and new forms of collaboration. Under this section I would add a few subsections on citizen journalism, flickr, wikipedia, etc. (Make sure that the examples you make in the introductory paragraph are unpacked in this section).

I would move the Lazaroui to a new section titled "Concept" and discuss him together with Shirky and perhaps another one or two additional authors. Merge the section on Institutions in this section.

I would rephrase the section currently titled "Collaborators" as "Power-law distributions." There is probably a WP article on power-law distributions so you might link to that or summarize it, specifying that this is an excerpt from the main article on power-law distributions.

I would also add a final paragraph (currently called "criticisms," but perhaps it could be titled "Downsides") on the fact that mass amateurization is a multi-faceted phenomenon. While on one hand it allows individuals to promote their own activities and groups to collaborate on the other hand it also coincides with exploitative conditions (e.g. free labor) for many users. Here you may also mention the presumed unreliability of Wikipedia or the scarce quality of other amateur productions.
