Your "style guide" seems non existent as the pages are a mess in terms of this style, often containing many variations, including BP, in the same article. It's repulsive actually. CE and BCE add no alternative information and only clutter pages and confuse people. (Samwhaine (talk) 07:29, 20 December 2021 (UTC))[reply]

Changing CE to AD

[edit]

Please stop changing CE to AD. Our Manual of Style says we use CE and BCE, not AD and BC. Thanks. Skyerise (talk) 13:44, 19 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I looked at the style guide and it's very peculiar that you made this statement with authority when it clearly says: "Years are denoted by AD and BC or, equivalently, CE and BCE. Use only one system within an article, and do not change from one system to the other without good reason. The abbreviations are written without periods, and with a non-breaking space, as in 5 BC. Omit AD or CE unless omitting it would cause ambiguity."

Being that no articles used to use 'common era' system until relatively recently, people are clearly tampering with previous entries with dubious reasoning. (Samwhaine (talk) 07:46, 20 December 2021 (UTC))[reply]

You are changing it without good reason. That violates the guideline and if you continue you will be blocked from editing, That's a promise. Do something else. Write a new article. Expand an article, But don't change CE to AD anywhere. And CE is in no way new, it's been used since 1625. Didn't go to college? They use it there you know. "Use only one system within an article." Don't resign to polemic. (Samwhaine (talk) 06:49, 21 December 2021 (UTC))[reply]

I always love the 'new editor challenges Grandmaster Editor for no good reason before they are even autoapproved' stories. Do you know how they turn out? Skyerise (talk) 16:25, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You seem like a very conceited person. How long has wikipedia existed, and yet, it still isn't respected. This in part goes to show why. (Samwhaine (talk) 07:38, 22 December 2021 (UTC))[reply]

"Use only one system within an article" This is totally inline with the stated policy. So far no good argument has been brought forth, only threats. Is any of this content yours? It comes across that there is CE bias that is not presented in the style manual. (Samwhaine (talk) 06:53, 21 December 2021 (UTC))[reply]
