Hello, I'm ARTEST4ECHO. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to Edward Partridge because it did not appear constructive. When you change Edward Partridge you accidentally introduced a POV that Joseph Smith founded only The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This goes against the Manual of Style/Latter Day Saints.

First: Let me give you a little background please. If you look at LDS Church history, after the Death of Joseph Smith, within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (notice the spelling difference) there was a Succession crisis. Those who believed that Brigham Young was the successor to Smith ended up in Utah and continued as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

However, there are hundreds of sect claiming that Joseph Smith “Founded” there particular version of Latter Day Saint church. Some broke with from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints during the Succession crisis (such as the LDS Church, RLDS Church, Strangites and Church of Christ). Others broke from from the LDS Church in Utah, such as the Council of Friends (First Mormon fundamentalist group that spit into several current sects like the FLDS Church) and Restoration Church of Jesus Christ (A LGBT version of the LDS Church). Still other just formed completely on their own like the Apostolic Divine Church of Ghana. Yes the LDS Church is BY FAR the largest of these churches, but it isn't the only one.

Who is right and who is wrong isn't what Wikipedia is about. So Wikipedia isn't going to debate if the LDS Church, RLDS Church, FLDS Church or the others are correct. That is why Wikipedia has a long standing policy of Neutral point of view. Therefore the consensus, per MOS:LDS, before 1844 the term "Latter Day Saint movement" is correct, not just the "LDS Church". As Edward Partridge joined with Smith and was "First Bishop" before 1844 he is "one of the earliest converts to the Latter Day Saint movement" (as it was before). If you feel that consensus is wrong, you are more then welcomed to bring it up at Talk:MOS:LDS, and attempt to change that consensus.--- ARTEST4ECHO^(Talk) 21:26, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
