I found the button for the internal link but don't see how to make a piped link.

I've searched the edit page, the instruction pages and my computer keyboard. I'm trying to create a new Wikipage.

if you are talking about UNIX pipe link, I am at sea, because in Wiki terms a pipe link in the one I told you about, if you need to do external links its just [Insert non-formatted text here], so other than that I doubt I can help you unless I get my head around a few concepts.--Kerotan^{Leave Me a Message} Have a nice day :) 10:44, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

sorry about the slowness of my reply (3 hours-a snail could reply faster), I was rather busy, and only got the new message popup just a few seconds ago, you created British Cemtery Elvas did you not?, to get to it just type British Cemtery Elvas into search, the upload log is only for media files like pictures and sound clips. and i do notice that you spelt cemetery wrong in the title, which may be one of the reasons why you can't find it.--Kerotan^{Leave Me a Message} Have a nice day :) 13:03, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

the reason why you got a speedy delete message was because I got the old version of the page deleted (the one with the missing e in the article title, the page for British Cemetery Elvas still exists, as you can see by clicking on that link.--Kerotan^{Leave Me a Message} Have a nice day :) 13:34, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Re:Coordinates

It was quite simply actually, I stole this {{coor title dms|50|00|56|N|2|41|50|E|region:FR_type:city_source:enwiki-GNS}} from the Lochnagar mine page, and replaced it with {{coor title dms|38|52|59.62|N|07|09|41.62|W|region:Pu_type:city_source:enwiki-GNS}}, quite simply filling in the gaps with the new coordinates, and guessing that Portugal s 2 letter shortening would be Pu (I am not even sure that it is) and it seemed to do the trick.--Kerotan^{Leave Me a Message} Have a nice day :) 08:13, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

portugese wiki

well your user account on this wiki for the english wiki only, because due to how the different language versions of wikipedia differ , a different account is needed for each one (it can be the same name). since all the pictures on the image are "free images", they could be uploaded to commons, and they can be on any wikipedia after that.--Kerotan^{Leave Me a Message} Have a nice day :) 03:24, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Battle of Albuera

Thank you for your contributions to the above article. I hope you don't mind, but I've removed the piped links you added - Battle of Albuera is a featured article, and as such has to comply with all the minutiae of the Manual of Style. This discourages wikilinks in headings, and linking more than once to the same article from within the article text. I was, however, unaware of the British Cemetery Elvas article, and although I don't think it works to link to it from "Elvas" (which is already linked to the town), it would make a good addition to the article. Perhaps you can suggest a better place to link from, or we could add a 'See also' section for your link? EyeSerene^talk 09:43, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't get it right. I noticed your excellent article and wanted to link Hoghton and/or Elvas to the British Cemetery wikipage. I think it's interesting that Hoghton is one of the few PW soldiers to have a known grave in Iberia. If you were to add that info to your Hoghton section, you could place a link there to the BC wikipage.

The Napleonic section of the Daniel Hoghton wikipage is relevant to your Albuera page and worth a link.

Sorry for butting in here. A few points: the Albuera article isn't anyone's page, it's a wikipedia page, that anyone can edit. It was just that your changes broke MOS, not good in a Featured Article. Hoghton is linked at his first mention, outside the section header (section header linking is not allowed in MOS). Elvas is linked, also at its first mention. The Cemetery isn't, and probably should be – I'd suggest an addition to Consequences rather than in the main body. If you wish to do that, please go ahead.

Unfortunately, the Hoghton article has a few misleading and erroneous bits in it; will have to address that at some point. Carré (talk) 17:59, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

No problem, your interest is very welcome! Just to set the record straight, I didn't actually write the article, although I do keep a (serene) eye on it because I helped a little to get it ready for its Featured Article assessment. It's main contributor, Carre, unfortunately isn't very active at the moment. I should also make it clear that no-one owns anything here - it's one of our most important principles that anyone can edit, and I sincerely apologise if I gave you a different impression. You should be bold and contribute as you see fit!

Regarding your suggestions, the Daniel Hoghton article is already linked, on the first non-heading occurrence of his name (in Hoghton's ordeal). I've added a sentence to the end of the Aftermath section mentioning the burials, with a link to the BC article. Do you think this is sufficient? I also need to ask a favour, if you don't mind... I've left a tag on that sentence, because it needs citing to a reliable source. Would you know of anything we could use for that? [struck, Jackyd101's already done it! Damn, some people are fast!]

Welcome aboard. Very pleased to see such a scholarly wikipage on the Battle of Albuera. The British Cemetery in Elvas has never been referred to as a military cemetery. Yes, Wikipedia is an open forum but you may have your reasons for calling it thus so before I edit the name, I'd like to know if you object. The British were given the right to burial by the Anglo-Luso Treaty of 1654 [can anyone footnote that? I have a Portuguese copy of the treaty but would appreciate an English reference. Have been unable to trace an English copy of the treaty.]

Do you know that Albuera celebrates May 16th each year with several days of festivities and a ceremony attended by officials from Spain, Portugal, Britain, France and Poland.

Please go ahead and change it. I wrote 'Military' cemetery based on the first line of the BC article, but I can see that the way I wrote it implies that is its proper name.

If you want to footnote things to foreign-language sources, that's fine - the policy states a strong preference for English-language sources, but permits non-English ones where there are no English sources of comparable quality.

I have to confess, I didn't actually check on Commons for the pictures. I just noticed that the ones in the BC article are held on Wikipedia rather than Commons, so I assumed they weren't available there.
