That's pretty much all I have to say. That sounds far, far worse than a similar operation I performed at Plasma (physics) ... and I didn't even have to worry about bug 43911 (though I did later have to worry about bug 20757 (the blank revisions bug). By the way, another way to get around bug 43911 is to undelete the unwanted revisions, move them to a temp subpage (without a redirect), then undelete all the remaining revisions at once (which can be achieved no matter how many there are). It was an ugly mess! Just working out the timeline, first, of what had happened was a pain in itself - the move and deletion logs each don't tell you the whole story. That in itself is something I'd rate as a bug; I want to be able to see the complete story of any given title. Plus, the history merge meant that one page appeared to have been moved to another page at a certain title before the other page gained that title, or something ridiculous like that!

It was also the first time I'd had to undo a history merge - talk about jumping in at the deep end. However, now I feel like I can fix anything, so I guess that's kind of an unexpected bonus. — Scott • talk 17:24, 13 April 2014 (UTC)
