Speedy deletion nomination of File:Professor Alice Roberts Wiki Portrait.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Professor Alice Roberts Wiki Portrait.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ///EuroCarGT 00:55, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'm a little surprised by this, seeing as the image is on http://www.alice-roberts.co.uk/ and not just http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/personalfinance/fameandfortune/9956340/TV-academic-Alice-Roberts-I-started-as-a-doctor-on-21000.html , which doesn't come across as being an interview done in person so it seems unlikely the Telegraph sent a photographer specially. The image there doesn't have an attribution, so unlikely to be from an agency. Also the file uploaded to Wikipedia included detailed camera-related info, which you don't get by downloading a .jpg from a website, though I guess it's possible to fake. I have to go to work now but I'll watch this page and hope to have time over the weekend to consider requesting the image file is undeleted. Qwfp (talk) 07:59, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Scubadoo. I am Diannaa and I am an administrator on this wiki. Your image uploads have been deleted, because they appeared in other locations on the Internet before they were uploaded here. In order for such images to be accepted for upload, you must provide proof that you have the right to do so. This is done by obtaining an OTRS ticket for each image you wish to upload. Instructions are available here. Note we cannot accept images "for non-commercial use only" or "for Wikipedia use only"; images must have a compatible license. Compatible licenses are listed here. -- Diannaa (talk) 13:56, 28 September 2014 (UTC)
