Topic Selection

One of the topics that I was thinking about was forensic psychology because looking at the wiki page already on it, I noticed that it could use more information and reiterate some of the information. sefran2 (talk) 04:57, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

After looking over the instructions for assignment 3, I looked through chapter 10 to see if there were any topics that looked interesting. Here are some that I found: Franz Mesmer, Ambroise-Auguste Liebeault, Marie "Blanche" Wittmann, Floyd Allport, and Elizabeth Loftus (studies human memory and their application to forensic settings). All of these people except for Marie "Blanche" Wittmann, had pretty developed pages like the Forensic psychology page that you suggested. None of the topics or these people from chapter 10 particularly jumped out at me. Plus a lot of the topics/people in chapter 10 are well known topics/people.

What really caught my eye was the Wikipedia resources page. I looked at the Wikipedia resources page and I think it would be pretty awesome to help develop a page on a female psychologist! They are often forgotten about so it would be nice to help spread the proper recognition they deserve! We could create a page from scratch for Jill G. Morawski, Lois Barclay Murphy, or Florence Kaslow (just naming a few) or we could work from an existing page for one. Maybe we could even find a female psychologist that studied forensic psychology! I did look at the Forensic psychology wiki page, and compared to other pages, this one looks pretty developed already! However, I do agree that some areas are pretty thin on this page, but I'm not sure how much more information we would actually be able to add. Isley Pie6 (talk) 21:18, 3 February 2018 (UTC)

:: Sorry it took me a while to respond , I was at work. Thank you for emailing Dr. Council I appreciate that! I definitely agree we should cover a woman because they are not as well covered in psychology. I think we could do Florence Kaslow. It would be good to create a page since there is not one on her. We would be making a difference by creating a new page! Definitely we can look more into it if we would rather do someone else from scratch. sefran2 (talk) 03:57, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

Yeah I'm fine with that! We should do some research on her first to make sure that we have enough information on her in order to create a well developed page!

We also need to have a another choice, (according to assignment 3 just in case someone also wants to do Florence Kaslow), so maybe our other choice could be Lois Barclay Murphy! What do you think? Isley Pie6 (talk) 23:18, 4 February 2018 (UTC)

Recapping from class yesterday: we did some research on Florence Kaslow, and while she is an amazing psychologist, we weren't able to find enough information on her in order to create a well-developed page. We looked into Lois Barclay Murphy and it looks like she already has a page on Wikipedia. We chose not to go with either Florence Kaslow or Lois Barclay Murphy and talked about how we wanted to create a whole new page and develop it for a female psychologist. In order to make sure we have enough information on our person, we decided that not only should we do a Google search on them, but also a Google Scholar search on them as well. We want to make sure we have credible sources to go off of. Today we will be communicating with each other on our top three choices and go from there! Isley Pie6 (talk) 20:12, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

I've been looking at the Women in Psychology Wikipedia page and I came across some good finds! My top three choices are: Beverly Greene, Michelle Fine, and Patricia Arredondo! Check them out and let me know what you think! I was able to find multiple, credible sources on all of them and they all need a Wikipedia page! Other people I found were Natasha Cabrera, Silvia Sara Canetto, and Ruth Fassinger. While all interesting, I wasn't able to find as many sources like I did for the other three! I was looking as well and there are three that caught my eye. Constance t. Fischer , Marci Lobel, and Elizabeth Lira. The first two I mentioned had more information for sure, and I really liked Marci Lobel because she studies stress and coping and the effects it has on physical health which really intrigued me . From searching just her name (Beverly Greene) in Google, I was able to find six good, credible websites, three videos (of interviews/talks), six pictures of her that we can choose from, and eleven of her books. From searching her name on Google Scholar, I was able to find a lot of her articles/journals/publications/books. The only thing I'm having an issue with is finding an exact birth date and family life and such. From one of the sources I found, I know she was born in 1950… but I'm not sure when. That's all I came up with so far! Let me know what you find on Marci Lobel! Isley Pie6 (talk) 21:41, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

After looking over Marci Lobel , I see she has a page on the Story Brook University web page which is where she is a professor in Social and Health Psychology. I also found that she has written some research papers with another author. We could look into those, but I feel more confident using Beverly Greene instead of Marci because we could find another way to get her birth date especially with all of the sources that are available. Wikipedia Assignment 4

For the Wikipedia assignment 4 Cydney is going to come up with two sources for our topic of Beverly Greene and Savannah will be asking the two questions.

Our Issue

• The Wikipedia page for Beverly Greene does not exist. Not having a page for Beverly Greene is our biggest issue.

To find our two references, we utilized Google Scholar. We have cited a published book and a journal article.

Your topic choices

Beverly Greene - not acceptable. Current Wikipedia page say she was an architect, not a psychologist. However, looking at your comments above, I guess there's another Beverly Greene.

Oops, I see there's another one who is a psychologist. I'd go with her as a choice. She is a notable African American psychologist. Would be starting a new Wikipedia article, but that's easy.

Yes, there are two Beverly Greene's. One is a psychologist, which is the one we plan to do our Wikipedia project on, and the other is an architect. Yes, we also knew after doing research on her that we would have to create our own Wikipedia page for her. We talked about it and decided that we wanted to choose someone who didn't have a Wikipedia page already. We wanted to start from scratch.

Feedback On Lead Sections

Hey Savannah! Your lead section looked good! Some things that I noticed were:

• That Beverly Greene's name isn't bolded. We are supposed to bold the topic of our page.
• Before getting into her background in the first few sentences, maybe briefly talk about who and what she does first then go into the background. You did a great job of this at the end of your first paragraph, so I would maybe switch that last sentence to the first!
• You did a great job getting to the point of who Greene is and some of the things that she has done while also including some background information on her!
