Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Sentara Healthcare, and I noticed that your username, "Sentara Health", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Thank you! How do I edit or change my username to make sure it complies with the username policy? Sentara Health (talk) 17:48, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Please fill out the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest to have your username changed. With that in mind, though, you still won't be able to add promotional material to Sentara Healthcare even once your username is changed, and you will end up blocked by an administrator if you continue to make those kinds of edits. Thesixthstaff (talk) 17:50, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What promotional material are you referring to? I am trying to update the page to reflect the current CEO and headquarters locations, as well as the "about" information. All of which is outdated. Sentara Health (talk) 17:52, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So first off, I'm assuming because of your username that you are an employee of Sentara Health and are potentially being paid for your edits to the company page. According to our conflict of interest guidelines, it is actually illegal in multiple countries for a representative of a company to participate in deceptive advertisement by "conveying to consumers expressly or by implication that they’re independent, impartial, or from a source other than the sponsoring advertiser". Material written by and posted on the Sentara website, posted verbatim to Wikipedia, is promotional, especially when it contains biased phrasing such as "creating an extraordinary health care experience for our patients and members". In addition, the entire new lede is unsourced. Finally, as this phrasing is ripped directly from the website, it violates Wikipedia policies on copyright. Let me know if you have any more questions! Thanks, that helps! I followed the username link to update my username and I also submitted a new edit for the CEO name change, citing a news report of the announcement. Hopefully that works! Sentara Health (talk) 18:09, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Sentara Healthcare. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia because your username, Sentara Health, does not comply with Wikipedia's username policy. Your username is the principal reason for the block. You are welcome to continue editing after you have chosen a new username that complies with Wikipedia's username policy, which is summarized here.
Please take a moment to either create a new account, or request a username change of your current account here. The new username that you choose must comply with Wikipedia's username policy.
  • To create a new account with a different username, simply log out of this account and then click here to make a new one.
  • If you prefer to change the username of this account, you may do so by adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page (this page): {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If your username is not in violation of Wikipedia's username policy, and if you believe that this block was incorrect or made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the following text to the bottom of your user talk page here: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
