Macedonia cities

[edit]

Hello. Thanks for your creation of articles on Macedonia cities. Two things: please provide one or more references from reliable sources to support the articles, and please don't add (Macedonia) to the article name if Wikipedia has no other article of the same name. E.g. Murtino and Meseista are the correct name for Murtino (Macedonia) and Meseista (Macedonia). Fram (talk) 14:28, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Fram; I don't really have anything else to add to them. I'm going through a FIPS data table right now trying to find what subdivisions map over to what NEW ISO subdivisions, for data conversion purposes, and many of the Macedonian cities did not exist on Wikipedia, so i created them, with their FIPS code, and what NEW municipality that are under (which would be the ISO answer). There really is nothing to cite or reference, afaik; i DO cite the FIPS article, where the codes can be verified, and most of the municipalities already point to the city (the rest i found using a map). As far as adding (Macedonia) to the city, i started doing that because some cities had the same name in a different nearby country, and so i kept doing that with the of the cities to prevent further conflicts of the same nature. So, does your request still stand, or do you agree with my method or approach on the naming convention? Thanks. SentientSystem (talk) 14:42, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved your articles, either to the name without (Macedonia), or to the name plus ", Macedonia", which is the standard for placenames where disambiguation is needed. As for the FIPS database, it is not sufficient to link to an article that has a reference, every individual article should have that reference. Fram (talk) 14:47, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, ok; thanks for the clarification; will do. SentientSystem (talk) 14:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SentientSystem, I've added {{WikiProject Macedonia}} to the talk pages of the city pages you've created. If you are going to create more new pages about Macedonian cities, it might be an idea to add these. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. —Tom Morris (talk) 07:35, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
