THE PARAMOUR SESSIONS
YES THIS ALBUM HAS GOT HARD ROCK INFUENCES!! BUT ALSO POST GRUNGE/POST-HARDCORE/POP PUNK AND AND AND!! SO I THINK ITS BETTER WHEN YOU CALL IT A ALTERNATIVE RECORD ALRIGHT?? SkaLord
- *Tuts*. You've made my talk page look messy by using caps.
- Seraphim Whipp 21:19, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
It's a long story
This ska-lord guy is a sock puppet who speaks english very poorly (I'm guessing its his second language). I reported him on Saturday for sockpuppetry, and I was told he would be dealt with on monday. When I left a message about this on his talk page he freaked out and it resulted in the message in question on my talk page.
I see you've dealth with him before as well. My best advice is to just ignore whatever he says to you, as I don't think he fully understands what you say to him. He was blocked previously in this sockpuppetry case and can't seem to comprehend that he is no longer welcome to edit here.Hoponpop69 01:20, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
A slight correction
I don't mean to boast but I haven't actually been dealing with BassxForte daily for weeks. It's months. Shocking, isn't it? My near-infinite patience is actually starting to wear thin. - Zero1328 Talk? 03:14, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
AFI-PUNK and his sockpuppets
As a non-admin there is not much I can do. Right now I'm talking with an admin who has blocked his various accounts and locked up the articles he edits in hopes that he'll eventually lose interest.[1] Unfortunately he's only giving him a block that expires. If you have any suggestions on ho welse I should deal with this please do so.Hoponpop69 19:19, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Crystal Castles
I respect that you enjoy Crystal Castles enough to contribute to their article... and likely see eye to eye with you on many issues surrounding the group. 24.68.249.197 23:55, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
- I also respect your contributions. More people involved = more contributions = better! The problem is that the people that have heard of them don't edit wikipedia...
- Just skim reading your contributions you look like you could be a good editor. Are you on a static IP? If not, why not join up? :-)
- Once again, I apologise if I sounded curt; I'm remarkably tired as where I am it's 1 AM...
- No, you never seemed curt. In fact, as this is my first real debate over an edit, I must say it went suprisingly well. So well in fact, I think I will sign up as an 'official' user. Thanks for the inspiration. :) 24.68.249.197 00:16, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- Ooh! :-). Let me know who you come back as so I can formally welcome you :P
- Seraphim Whipp 00:18, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
- LOL... will do. 24.68.249.197 00:24, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
Because you seem to be the only other person who cares about having this sock puppet dealt with...
You might want to read this conversation I had with an admin.[2] As I said in the conversation I am on the verge of leaving wikipedia because of this. If you would like to bring this problem to the attention of more admins I'd appreciate. At this point I am tired of dealing with it and am going to stop editing and going to wikipedia if nothing is done in the next few days.Hoponpop69 22:46, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
Stalking Situation
I really don't care whether that user is stalking me or not, as I am planning to quit wikipedia tommorow if nothing is done about his vandalism. If you say it is important to be dealt with, then be my guest to deal with it in the proper manner, but at this point I don't see the importance of doing it myself, as I may likely stop editing the site tommorrow.Hoponpop69 04:35, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
COSMOgirl!
I swear to you that when the title is typed the GIRL is capitalized. I realize that it's the reverse of the logo, but there are countless instances of this on their website and if you want I will find every single one of them and leave them here for you do view. Do a search on the site yourself and you'll see how often it comes up. I left the myspace page and editor's letters as the most "official" instances, because surely the typo could not occur on the editor's letter could it? Nixie77 22:05, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
CosmoGIRL!
Hi,
I received an email from a user (I'm guessing it's Nixie77 considering the post above this one) regarding the official name on the site. I'm the senior online editor at CosmoGIRL! magazine and I wanted to let you know that, while you make a very good point, when the title of the magazine is in print the GIRL! is capitalized and not the Cosmo.
Here's our corporate page regarding the magazine:
http://hearst.com/magazines/property/mag_prop_cosmogirl.html
As you can see, the spelling is consisent there. If you need more proof let me know. I can even forward you an e-mail from work account, the spelling is in my signature file. I would just rather not publish my work e-mail out there for the whole web to send me spam. ;)
You can leave a message through the website.

Thank you.

- I am absolutely honoured and in awe of the courtesy provided to correct a wikipedia article. If you are around, then I shall ask some questions directly, such as, why is the spelling inconsistent to begin with? The actual logo of the magazine does not correspond to the instances mentioned...I have an eager curiosity :)
- Seraphim Whipp 21:30, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- I am actually not sure what the "official" reason is, but if I had to guess I'd say it's because we are an off-shoot of Cosmopolitan magazine. When they shorten that mag's name it's Cosmo, not COSMO so I guess they wanted some consistency there. The reason it's on the cover capitalized is that it's a vanity spelling (check out the Cosmo logo which is spelled in all caps) so new readers will identify the connection between the two brands.
- Another fun fact, when the name of the mag is shortened we always have the ! (CG!) in there so it doesn't get confused with CoverGirl.
- Cosmogirl2007 21:45, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- First note:
- So then, therefore, why not keep to the spelling of the magazine cover when you write it elsewhere (even though it is vanity spelling)? Sometimes I realise I ask why too much... ^-^
- Second note:
- Thank-you very much for your time. I'm glad the article name is cleared up. I'll also leave a note on the page itself so that confusion can be avoided for other wikipedians. :)

Image:Karate_High_School.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Karate_High_School.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 16:39, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I noticed you've made lots of edits to these pages and their related pages. I've added a few {{story}} tags on some articles because, for someone who has never seen the show and has no knowledge of it, the articles can sometimes makes little sense. I was just wondering if there was something I could do to help since I tagged the articles?

Requests for Comment - User conduct would be the best place. Will (talk) 13:47, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you go back far enough you could probably find plenty to show a consistent history of canvassing, personal attacks, vandalism to user pages (namely TTN's page ...see the history of his page), and other inappropriate actions. If you feel that should should request a comment, then you should do that. This is your judgement call. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 14:09, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you need to mention me that's fine. One cannot deny one's experience on here. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 14:19, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- No problem. I prefer conversations than who blame games on noticeboards. But, as you said, sometimes it is necessary. Hopefully this won't be the case. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 16:33, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
I understand, but perhaps you're not considering the facts that got us to the point of arbitration. The many articles made by editors like myself have been deleted unjustly. I felt that arbitration was asked for because it was upsetting myself and many others who had their work unjustly destroyed. We worked hard on our articles and give lots of thought into them. And just to have them deleted isn't right, at all. But you're right. Swearing is just plain ignorant. That's what I'm sorry about. I stand on the fact that having articles deleted is wrong, and he has no right to do it, ever. Yes, my frustrations have clearly shown through, but somebody had to take a stand on this particular issue. I wish that things were worked out in a more civil way, and I feel I've tried to do that. However, TTN and Ned Scott are still deleting my work and others' work unjustly. It's just not right! I wonder how they would feel if they spent hours of time working on a piece and having their work be destroyed with a push of a button, without ANY consideration on the part of the person(s) who SPENT their time writing it. It's easy to surf through articles, read them, delete them, redirect them, anyone can do that, but a true editor, a TRUE writer, doesn't do these things. THAT is my frustration, THAT is many other persons' frustrations, and possibly this is what is not coming through in the banterings back-and-forth; it's coming across as personal attacks, and it's not. It's just the issue of them deleting and redirecting our works.
I don't think I am doing anything wrong. It may seem like I'm attacking TTN and Ned Scott, but I have denounced those ways from now on. I love it here. Angie Y. 03:34, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Yeah. Let's just start over. I'm not really a bad person.Angie Y. 12:07, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- (To Seraph) Sure, I'll look it over. (To Angie) We aren't calling you a bad person. But what you are being very duplicitous. You say one thing and then you turn around and do something completely different. When your canvassing was brought to your attention, you did it some more. You respond to people as if you understand what they are saying, then your actions contradict your words. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 12:19, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. I am sorry for that. Maybe if someone teaches me how to not contradict, maybe I wouldn't do it anymore. :'( Angie Y. 12:36, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Do you understand the concept of "contradiction"? BIGNOLE (Contact me) 12:40, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Yes. Angie Y. 12:47, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Then it's simple. If you say something, or say you will do something, then live by those words. You are basically insulting the editors you "apologize" to, and when you claim things which you turn around and ignore. We are by no means trying to force you to do think or do anything you don't want to. We are only trying to get you to understand where we are coming from, and what our opinions are based on. If you never plan on doing something, then don't claim you will. That just insults people's intelligences. This is Wikipedia, this is the place where everyone is big brother; no actions are hidden except those created in secrecy (like discussing certain actions over an instant messenger or email, with the intent of keep those actions secret until the last moment). BIGNOLE (Contact me) 12:56, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- nods* Alright. I gotcha. :) I shouldn't be so contradictory then. Angie Y. 13:05, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Season page
I finally finished the work on the Smallville season page. Take a look and tell me what you think. It needs a good copyedit for wordiness and word choices, but that's easy to find if the page is implented into the mainspace. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 17:04, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I had all but unanymous decision over at the season page. I believe it can be made to work well, then there should not be a reason to have the episode articles, for at least that series. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 18:49, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
You want to talk?
If you don't want it on the wiki feel free to email me. Theresa Knott | Taste the Korn 22:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Ah hello! Thank-you for responding. I'm having problems with my email tonight :S. It's a really simple request. When I first joined wiki, I linked one of my user boxes to my last.fm account name, however there is some personal information on my profile, revealing my name, age and location. This is fine on that site but I would rather not link the two since editing wiki can make you the target of vandals. My request is simply that the revision where I added my account name to the user box, be deleted/hidden? Did that make any sense at all :S ?
- Seraphim Whipp 22:54, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Can you give me a diff to where you added it and another to where you removed it. Theresa Knott | Taste the Korn 23:01, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Sure. This was where I added it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Seraphim_Whipp&diff=105426631&oldid=104457418
and this was when I removed it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Seraphim_Whipp&diff=next&oldid=105426631
Does this section need to be hidden now?
Seraphim Whipp 23:06, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
No it's not visible because I just oversighted the revision. Just go check for me to make sure, but you shouldn't be able to see it in the history. Theresa Knott | Taste the Korn 23:12, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Serj photo
Hi. I recently replaced an image of Serj that you had uploaded, with a free image from the commons as the rights to the photograph you added, were unclear from your description. It had been tagged as free although the summary said it had copyright. Feel free to change the image back if it is indeed a free image, however if it is copyrighted, plese bear in mind that it would fail the fair use criteria because a free picture is available. If I've made an error in my actions, feel free to let me know on my talk page. Happy editing!
Seraphim Whipp 10:47, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the care, actually the photo is free, I just made a mistake in the photo's description. I reverted it, if that's ok with you. gracz54 (talk) 12:21, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- No problem! :-)
- Seraphim Whipp 12:25, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Actually I'm intrigued now, how or when was this photo taken? Have you actually met Serj Tankian?
- Seraphim Whipp 14:34, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I didn't meet Serj (it would have been awesome, though), a friend of mine gave me the photo from someone who has indeed met Serj (at least that's what he told me), he said I can release this photo to the public. So I did. :) gracz54 (talk) 14:36, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Wowee! Well it was very kind of you to do so. You might want to consider putting it on the commons? :-)
- Seraphim Whipp 14:38, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, but what do you mean by "the commons"? gracz54 (talk) 17:50, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- The Wikimedia Commons. I would explain it to you but I think the article will do a better job :-). Is that any help?
- Seraphim Whipp 18:22, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, I think I uploaded it on the Commons properly, though I'm not sure of that. :P gracz54 (talk) 20:37, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yep that seems to be all in order =^_^=

I fixed it. It was a bullet issue, where there was a space, then an asterisk, at the beginning of the line. I removed the space, and the asterisk was able to format as a bullet. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 14:41, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
AfD Request
Hello there. I don't normally go to the AfD page, but got there because I noticed that the Harry Potter Comparision page I was reading was there. I think that your repeated use of short links to Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions is slightly offensive and disruptive - I'm aware that the essay points out how "it's useful" is not a good reason to keep something. However, the same essay also points out that just saying "violates WP:OR" is not a valid reason to delete. If you are going to continually comment, you should do both. I can also find an essay that says you shouldn't respond to every single post with the same comment - if you actually want me to find the reference, let me know. I was tempted to use your exact language after everyone who said "Delete, WP:OR", but I figured that would be disrupting Wikipedia to make a point.
Oh - and also - your UserPage right now isn't readable - the photos cover up the userboxes. Thought you might want to know.
Thanks for reading. Zakolantern 21:40, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for your message. Perhaps I am sometimes unaware of my own naïveté, but my posts of the link were not intended to be disruptive at all. I simply aimed to highlight that the arguments weren't very good ones and were all based on the same, in my belief, fallacious principle. I just dislike the "useful" argument and it seemed to crop up a lot. If you would like to propose a discussion or make an argument in return to a vote/reason, you are perfectly entitled to do so (although I'm not advocating discussion erring on a point type thing, though I'm sure you are more capable of expressing yourself in an eloquent way...unlike myself *d'oh*).
- I sincerely apologise for those posts because I have misconveyed my intention. I shall also make an apology on the talk page so that everyone else will be aware that they were good faith edits.
- Also, thank-you for alerting me to how my userpage looks. I use firefox, which must render my page differently to how other browsers view it. Foolishly (or perhaps due to my dislike) I had not checked how it would look in IE. :-)
- EDIT: Incidentally, what browser are you using (if you don't mind me asking)? I have now viewed the page using firefox and IE but cannot see the problem. I noticed, however, that part of the formatting was not exactly as I wanted it and thus appreciate your note anyway :-).
- Seraphim Whipp 00:08, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
What Browser
I was using Firefox 2.0 when I posted that, but on a 15 inch monitor which may be the difference. The images overlapped with the userboxes and were overlaid on top of them, covering about half. On this 17" monitor, again Firefox 2.0, the images appear (right now) to the right of the userboxes. Thank you for your comments on my talk page, I really appreciate them. Zakolantern 02:07, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply :-). I'll make a note somewhere on the page letting people know about the difference that resolution makes ^-^

Hey, I saw the message you left Dissectional on his/her talk page. I actually didn't even think that the IP and the user could possibly be connected. Good job on the little investigation. :) Would that count as a sock puppetry case, even if it's an IP address? If the IP and the user are the same person (I'm not saying they are, I'm just saying "if"), then the user is definitely trying to "give the impression of more support for a viewpoint," which is mentionned on WP:SOCK. At some point, the IP user said "i fell there has been more said to remove nu metal," which could be a little hint. What should we do if both users display more common points? Should we report this to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets, if this continues? Anyways, keep me updated on any new info concerning those users. Thanks in advance! Zouavman Le Zouave 12:41, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- The IP was definitely Dissectional as the recent attack re-post on the SOAD talk page shows. To be honest, I'm not a fan of Dissectional because they're kinda disruptive. I'd say make a SSP report...
I agree with you, and I also think that Dissectional is causing some trouble. Should we gather some hints (I don't want to say "evidence") and file a report at WP:SSP now or wait until more hints show up? The advantage of the former solution is that the trouble caused by the IP and Dissectional will be stopped sooner, but the latter solution would give us a stronger "case". What do you think? Zouavman Le Zouave 23:40, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm all good points. I think building up a stronger case is a good idea, although I'm pretty sure that right now, there is enough hints, such as editing patterns and style of talking e.g Dissectional says "Ill" in place of "I'll" and so does the IP. We can handle his edits for now... Thoughts?
- Seraphim Whipp 23:58, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I think we should wait a little longer as well. I have another style pattern for you. Both the IP and the user do not capitalize their "I" when they refer to themselves. This can be seen here for the IP and here for the user. The user claims to come from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as can be seen on his talk page, and you have reported the IP as coming from the same location. So far we have three unquestionable common points, not counting the behavior and the point of view regarding the band's genre and the article's infobox. I think we should wait a little longer. However, if the editor in question comes to read this discussion, he may change his way of editing and start, for example, to capitalize his "I" and to use apostrophes. Zouavman Le Zouave 00:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's quite true, although wouldn't that action look a bit peculiar in itself and look like another hint? A personal grievance I have is the re-post of Revan ltrl's message by both IP and Dissectional; it's like abuse! He's attacking people using someone else's words and he thinks that is acceptable, simply because the words aren't his. He says, "he may be a little rude", then he says, "his answers are correct". It's like saying "My mum thinks you smell...it's a bit rude but I agree with her".
- Seraphim Whipp 00:21, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Hahaha, yes that's exactly so. I like to assume good faith, so I didn't take it as a personal attack, but I do think that they are indirectly attacking me. I don't particularly care about that, but I'm more worried about the stability of the article (which was obtained through consensus and lots of compromises). Actually, you bring up an important point: Both the user and the IP have copied and re-posted User:Revan ltrl's message! First on my talk page (Dissectional) and on the SoaD talk page (IP). Both are against nu metal being associated with SoaD, both do not use apostrophes in words such as "I'll" or "Here's", both do not capitalize their "I", both come from Toronto, and both have copied the same message and expressed how they agreed with it. So far five similarities. We can easily get some more! ^^ Zouavman Le Zouave 00:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Easily! :). I would have found it difficult to stay cool if I had been on the other end of that bashing.
- I also think that the editors at that page have done a very good job to build consensus. If it looks like nu-metal, smells like nu-metal, walks like nu-metal and gets labelled nu-metal by multiple reliable third party sources; it's probably nu-metal :P. Despite my inital inclination, that's what I've come to accept. It's not like there has even been a reasonable or rational discussion to dispute the nu-metal claims! The people who oppose it can't really argue the sources and that's what Dissectional wants to do...using IP's to back him up... Oh well... we've certainly got a lot of hints already....
- Seraphim Whipp 00:42, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Yeah. So do you think it would be best to start the SSP report now, while Dissectional and the anonymous editor are inactive? I can continue to look for more hints if we need some. Or do you think we need more "concrete" hints, and that we should wait a while? One of the problems with waiting is that the IP and/or the user might come across our discussion. What do you think? Zouavman Le Zouave 00:51, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Since we have uncovered quite a lot of significant likely factors, it might be best to begin a report and continue to add to it if more actions accumulate. I'd say these hints are pretty strong.
- Seraphim Whipp 00:55, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I'll start the report. I'll add the link as soon as it's ready. Feel free to add more info as soon as you get some! ;-) Zouavman Le Zouave 00:57, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Right, I looked at the report and added some evidence too. It's a shame the guy wasn't actually just lazy as he said. I've provided evidence that shows that it was his intention to mislead using the IPs.
- Seraphim Whipp 09:46, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I don't think the user is being completly honest with us on that point. Dissectional has had no problem with logging in since July 14th, the date of his first contribution. It was on July 26 that he started to use the IP address, but he didn't stop editing with his account until August 17, just before you sent him that message (and I think he actually read it). As for the "nu metal survey", Dissectional removed the poll with his account after seeing that a poll was not a good idea, but nevertheless pushed the idea further with his IP, claiming that "this poll will reinforce the answer". While I want to AGF, I have to admit that the most rational hypothesis is that User:Dissectional was using his IP to give the impression there were more people agreeing with him. Zouavman Le Zouave 10:00, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
