Peer Review[edit]
Overall, the article is strong! The subsections are clear and provide a detailed overview of different aspects of the problem. I particularly like the advocacy efforts section because I learned a lot of new information! The main way you can improve your article would be to add a lead instead of just jumping straight into the definition of the problem. As a reader, I was also curious about the cultural factors that cause period poverty and want to know more, so I might elaborate on period shaming, which cultures see period blood as unholy, etc. I might also consider adding something about intersectionality and how that affects who experiences period poverty. Particularly for the economic barriers, I would assume there are some interesting statistics (especially in the U.S.) about who is more likely to be on food stamps or SNAP, etc. In the consequences section, what are the consequences of period poverty specifically relating to the lack of education needed to use menstrual products effectively. The primary consequences listed seem to come from the lack of actual products, rather than also the lack of knowledge. Ultimately, I would assess the article as moderately developed. There is a lot of great information and it’s very readable. There are just a few spots where I, as a reader, am curious to know more!
