Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Skywalker976. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Shenphen Rinpoche, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. MarioGom (talk) 13:27, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Outing

[edit]

Stop icon Do not add personal information about other contributors to Wikipedia, as you did at Talk:Shenphen Rinpoche. Wikipedia operates on the principle that every contributor has the right to remain completely anonymous. Posting personal information about a user is strictly prohibited under Wikipedia's harassment policy. Wikipedia policy on this issue is strictly enforced and your edits have been reverted and/or suppressed, not least because such information can appear on web searches. Wikipedia's privacy policy is to protect the privacy of every user, including you. Persistently adding personal information about other contributors may result in you being blocked from editing. Please review Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#Avoid outing. It is not acceptable to link to off-wiki accounts you suspect to be operated by a Wikipedian if that person has not disclosed those accounts themselves on-wiki. This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hello Skywalker976, please take your time to read WP:TALK, it explains best practice and and misuse of talk pages. Please comment on content, not on editors on article talk pages (others did this as well, but that is no excuse), and please avoid adding "walls of text" (see WP:TLDR) or copypasting your text to other talk pages. We are expected to keep specific discussions in one place. JimRenge (talk) 23:12, 15 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello JimRenge. Thank you for the explanation. I answered to a repeated assertion regarding me by the other editor, so, if unanswered, it would appear, as if supported. Regarding walls of text - ok, I will try to avoid it, but in order to show the tabloid nature of a concrete article, it had to be explained in detail. Hopefully, it will suffice. Example: This edit in the deletion discussion is definitely misplaced and might be interpreted as disruptive. If you want to complain about the behaviour of a fellow editor, you can do this on his talk page, citing wikipedia policies and guidelines and providing evidence of the criticized behaviour with links. Please see Wikipedia:Dispute resolution for additional info. JimRenge (talk) 07:20, 16 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
