MARTA Review
Hi, I noticed that you recently redid the assessment for MARTA, and was wondering if it would be possible to add assessment comments so we can fix the problems on the article. Most of us working on that article are not expert Wikipedians, so we are probably missing somethings. We did a major rework and fixed some of the citing and grammatical issues. So I was jsut wondering if you ahve the time, if you could provide some comments on improving the article. Thanks! Amazingracer 18:42, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Just wanted to thank you again for your comments regarding the article.Amazingracer 17:19, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
WI Northern Rail
Thanks for your help with the Wisconsin Northern Railroad article. --Anthony5429 21:37, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi Sean,
I'm sure you have nothing better to do, but you may want to put your 2 cents worth in here as the issue could ultimately affect a great number of rail-related articles.--Lord Kinbote 01:02, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Bot for related changes
Hi - The code for updating the related pages for the trains WikiProject has been sitting around my computer for a while - and I just remembered about it - so I'm going to run it and the submit to WP:BRFA along with some other wikiProject related tasks. Sorry for the time this has taken - I've been trying to accumulate a lot of tasks to do in one request, rather than spamming the requests page with about four tasks! Thanks, Martinp23 13:57, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I'd be able to do that, but would you perfer me to get the bot to put the template on those article talk pages, to avoid the problem in future (and make the articles members of the project)? If not, then it's fine for me to put the functionality into it to just make additions to the list. Thanks, Martinp23 14:52, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- OK - before I do it, I'll go through and revert MartinBotII on those listings, and then add to the categories. Martinp23 14:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi - I had to leave the bot to just update the page listings, and leave the page tagging. The problem I found, when I did a few, was that some are already under other wikiprojects, and some are redirects, or other such pages. This would be something better done using AWB, so if you'd still like to do it, I'll try it, though you may be better asking at WP:BOTREQ, where people may already have AWB permssion for bots. I'll be happy to hand over the list for pages which appear to need tagging for this purpose (around 570 are listed - not sure how many need tagging). Martinp23 19:35, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
- OK - before I do it, I'll go through and revert MartinBotII on those listings, and then add to the categories. Martinp23 14:59, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
Trains Importance task force
Is there a task force within the Trains Project that is working on assinging importance ratings to unrated articles? I'd like to join with that group if there is one. 3D jonny 01:30, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Cats and Dogs Portals
Hi, Slambo. If you can offer some tips on the respective portal talk pages about how to improve Cats and Dogs up to "featured" quality, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rfrisbietalk 17:55, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Proposed change to UK stations infobox
See Template talk:Infobox UK station#Bilngual station names for my proposed way to standardise the formatting of stations that have names in more than one language (e.g. English and Welsh names). Thryduulf 22:34, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Valve gear image
I think that you restored the incorrect image of "reverse motion" in the article "Walschaert Valve Gear". I removed it because it shows the radius rod at the bottom of the link, in the position for forward motion, and indicates high pressure steam in front of the piston (in red) which will make the engine run forward. Thus the forward and reverse diagrams are substantially identical. In the conformation of the valve gear illustrated, the radius rod will be at the top of the link to reverse the engine.
Did you really mean to restore this erroneous image?

I give up. The esoterica of wikipedia is beyond me. I do not know how to reach a "user's talk page" to e-mail the user. I do not have a library to find references for all that I know.
The automation on Walschaert Valve Gear does not work on either of the browsers I use, IE7 and FireFox 2. In the Walschaert Valve Gear diagrammed in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walschaert_valve_gear
the radius rod must be raised to the top of the link to reverse the locomotive.
I will probably give up my attempts to correct errors and amplify entries to WIkipedia.
I forget the arcane symbols I am supposed to use in signing this.

- The animation works for me using Firefox on both Linux boxes that I have access to (Firefox 2 on SuSE 10 and Firefox 1.5 Ubuntu 6.06), and it works for me in IE6 on my WinXP box. If there is a better animation, I'd like to see it. I will take the issue up with the WikiProject Trains/Images task force soon. Slambo (Speak) 14:40, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Debate about (UK) vs (U.K.) vs. (United Kingdom) / (US) vs. (U.S.) vs (United States) disambiguators reopening
Yes, sorry, it's reopened for a fourth (!) round of debate. Sorry to pester you, but I thought you'd want to (again) weigh in, this time at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (abbreviations). Thanks! hike395 07:32, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Re: CP Railway/Mandarin Orange Express
Not trying to be confrontational, but that's a factual event. Source: http://www.nscale.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3691
I would have added the reference to the bottom, but didn't know how. Thanks!

Munich U Bahn Stub
I noticed you placed that on Category:Rail stubs today. Does that mean it is official now? And should I go ahead and create its own category or is it just fine as it is? Agathoclea 23:49, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
DLR rating
what sort of importance would you put this railway as/ It has had a vital role in the regeneration of the Docklands and generally a lot of the East of London. It represents cutting edge technology especially since its start in 1987. It is even strangely classed as one of the greatest railway journeys of the world. So would this be High or Mid importance? Seperately, is there an area to list current articles undergoing GA and FA nominations? Simply south 21:40, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Apologies!
I was not intending on abusing the site but seeing that there were links to useful sites, I felt it was helpful to users to be able to get to have a more comprehensive list of sites with useful information of relevance to the article that they were reading - I am just a rail fan. Sorry for getting it wrong - please bear with me - I am new to this and need to learn. RailWikies 12:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
List of rail accidents
There is currently a discussion about whether we should set criteria for inlcusion of accients on the List of rail accidents page, and if so what the criteria should be.
The discussion is located at Talk:List of rail accidents/Criteria for inclusion, where your input would be most welcome. Thryduulf 00:35, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
2500 Illinois Central
fyi - My grandfather is the current custodian of the 2500, on static display in Fairview Park - Centralia, IL. He has some interesting stories on this and much other IC history, as he worked at the Centralia Car Shops for 30 some years. I plan to start documenting the info as he is currently 93.
He and a couple others from town worked with the IC to setup a steam memorial in the park. They ended up with the 2500, and he led the move of the engine from the mainline tracks to it's current location. He has a bunch of cool pix of the event, which most of the town turned out for. He and a bunch of volunteers used tow trucks and a winch to move the engine. They alternated several pieces of track to move several miles from the mainline, down Broadway, to the park. They had to do it in a single day because a portion of the route was a state highway, and the IL Dept of Transportation only gave them a limited amount of time.

I guess you can respond in my talk box. I'm new to Wiki.

Alco RSD-15
I notice from your photos that you've been to the Illinois Railway Museum - did you get a photo of the ALCO RSD-15 they apparently have? Thanks, Matthew Brown (Morven) (T:C) 23:32, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Talk:OpenVMS - "There are no references"?
There was an unfortunately rather terse comment around a lack of reference citations left over on the Talk:OpenVMS page. Might you elaborate on that comment? Several of the contributors have attempted to fathom the intent of that comment, and of the de-listing. 12.160.204.18 20:32, 30 November 2006 (UTC) / -Hoff - 30-Nov-2006
