Dark Guardians

DG

[edit]

History Back in 2005 I bought the halo game in a local store and went home and threw it into my PC. It was the first computer game I'd ever played, having been a playstation single player gamer playing on computers was a bit different.

Once the game had installed I got straight into the single player game and enjoyed it. Shortly after getting the game I got a broadband connection and decided to give multiplayer a go. I played on a few severs and thought it was a good laugh. This is where I was first introduced to the concept of game clans, but I wasn't interested in joining them since they were all elitist jerks who weren't interested in team play. They just wanted the best individual players to join up in order to pwn in the game.

It was at this point I started looking into servers and found that running a home dedi was pretty easy so that's what I did.

That night Hostile (the creator of the =DG= video on the home page) came into my server and he seemed to be a good guy so I asked him if he wanted to start up a clan. He wasn't in a clan at the time as he was a bit of a lone wolf so he said yes and =DG= was born.

The original name of the clan was Draig Goch as it was going to be a Celtic clan but as more international players joined the clan it made sense to change the name and Dark Guardians was chosen as the name to use.

At our high point we had 100+ members in the clan and we played a few different games but Halo CE was our game of choice.

=DG= had a lot of success and our servers were renowned for being clean places to play the game and were often full. When we were able to afford proper servers we set up Coldsnap on Battlezone alpha which was our primary server. We also had Battlezone beta which was used as a backup and for other mixed maps. At one point we had Battlezone charlie and delta but due to financial reasons they didn't last.

In december of 2006 I decided to move on and joined a clan called The British empire which I am now a leader of, Leaving =DG= to the command of Hostile. I still had an active role as advisor in DG but things started to go sour and membership fell off. The clan started to disolve and the decision was made to allow the clan to die and we moved on.

A few of the old members of DG created another clan called »CZ« Condition Zero Clan but that is now gone too.

I'm still in contact with many of my old DG friends and probably always will. I enjoyed the old clan and made some great friendships, I hope the same can be said for =DG= reincarnated.

Applying for =DG= -make sure you get the =DG=tags right -keep the language warm and friendly. Swearing and raging will not be tolerated -make sure you present your app with proper grammar and punctuation (read it aloud, make sure it doesn't sound monotone) -try to make your answers as relevant as possible.. For example, dont talk about other people when it specifically asks you a simple question like "have you ever cheated?" (or any other random combination you can come up with) -speak your heart... Saying something you don't really mean won't work out.. This helps us see who you REALLY are, and decide whether or not you can join.. -RAGING/flaming etc on the forums or halo servers will only weaken your chances of getting in. Try to stay calm, even if rejected! -The question "what can you bring to =DG= as a member" confuses a lot of people.. It's simple. We mean "What are you good at? will you be dedicated? Will you socialize with others?" -socialize, be a part of the community, don't just apply and stay quiet till your app gets processed, this helps us determine what kind of person you are, hence further improving your chances of getting in.. remember, the key word here is MATURITY. Good luck, future applicants! :)
