Welcome to Wikipedia, Spaetzle! I am Reaper Eternal and have been editing Wikipedia for quite some time. Thank you for your contributions. I just wanted to say hi and welcome you to Wikipedia! If you have any questions check out Wikipedia:Questions, or feel free to leave me a message on my talk page or type {{helpme}} at the bottom of this page. How to insert a math diagram?[edit]

{{helpme}} How do I paste in a math diagram? Which LaTeX commands work in the Wikipedia math mode?

Part of the problem is that Wikipedia doesn't actually use TeX; it uses a thing called texvc, which is a partial reimplementation. It's not as good as MathJax. What it supports is pretty random. If there is a symbol you really really want, then your best bet is to ask the developers to add it for you. Or you can ask on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Mathematics, as one of us might be able to suggest a workaround. If, on the other hand, you want something that's not a symbol (like \phantom or a package) then you are out of luck, as most of those are not supported. I don't know of any reference for what texvc does and does not support. The best reference I know of is Help:Formula.
For diagrams, your best bet is to follow the directions at meta:Help:Displaying a formula#Commutative_diagrams.. Some people have made diagrams already; you can find them in commons:Category:Commutative diagrams. There is no native support for Xy-pic, the LaTeX picture environment, or anything else. (Though I suppose you could fake a diagram using a matrix. That's what Knuth suggests in the TeXbook.)
Also, for future reference, you should type the characters {{helpme}} to get help, not the characters {{tl|helpme}}. I just happened to come here because I saw your edit to A¹ homotopy theory and realized that I had never seen you around here before. Welcome! Ozob (talk) 21:57, 18 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

May I remove this badge?[edit]

{{helpme}} The article Homotopy principle has a badge saying that it needed attention by an expert. I do not consider myself an expert, but I have read introductory material to the subject and it fits nicely with what the Wikipedia article says. I did not check the details in the Wikipedia article, though. I think the article looks fine and I'd like to remove that annoying, seven-year-old badge. May I? What is the policy in such questions? Spaetzle (talk) 14:56, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is fine to remove the badge. I went through the history of the page. When the badge was put in place, the section on 'ways to prove' was empty, and I think this was the reason for the badge. Someone later edited that section, so I think now it should be fine to remove the badge. Nilayvaish (talk) 15:05, 19 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Done. Spaetzle (talk) 11:50, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
