Metalcallout

[edit]

A large proportion of your edits seem to be related to the website metal call out. Are you in some way affiliated with them? Is there a particular reason you are using them exclusively as a source? Rehevkor 21:13, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No not affilated with them. They just have a different focus. Most metal sites just talk about the major bands and its usualy gossip. But these guys have more "underground" metal news, the less popular bands. And in Wikipedia these less popular bands hardly have anything on their pages.

Well I'd suggest not linking the site any further. Considering almost every single one of your edits involves linking to the site in some way, linking the site further will likely result in a block, as your actions are indicative of a single purpose account using solely to promote a single website. You are welcome to contribute, but use other references. If you have no affiliation with this website as you claim, this shouldn't be a problem. Rehevkor 23:36, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have also brought up the issue at the Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. Cheers. Rehevkor 23:55, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Guns N' Roses. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Rehevkor 01:30, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked, advertising for Sparks-media.com

[edit]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} below this message box.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block. Atama 16:33, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I didn’t know that I was doing anything wrong. Wikipedia is built on information and everything I posted was completely legit correct information. Because I got my information from Metal CallOut, I was giving the reference to them. Most of the pages I was updating hadn’t been updated for a very long time and some even didn’t have any references or sources. I felt like I was doing everything by the policy, but I made a mistake and I’ll be more careful in the future.

Decline reason:

This account can't be unblocked, because it bears the name of an existing organization. If you want to change your username as described above, it will probably be necessary to give assurance that you won't be writing about your own organization in the future, and to be specific about the other areas you're interested in editing. If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

That and you were warned several times but continued to spam links to the site, you also denied a pretty obvious conflict of interest. Rehevkor 20:30, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
