Speedy deletion of Upshift Strikeracer
[edit]A tag has been placed on Upshift Strikeracer requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Response to talk page comment
[edit]Hello, I am the speedy deletion nominator. I will also post this reply to your talk page. I have tagged the article because I do not believe it meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines (see WP:N). If you can edit the page to satisfy these criteria, then please remove the tag and continue editing once you have made the change. If you have any further questions, please ask me on my talk page - Fritzpoll (talk) 00:11, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, this is my response to your comments on my talk page. This article contains no sources that assert notability that are independent of the material itself. That is, you have two sources, but both relate to the creators and publishers of the game. As such, this does not independently assert notability as defined by WP:N. What you need to do is find a reputable source independent of the game so that people can see why it should be included in an encyclopaedia. I hope this clears things up for you - I should also like to say, as this is your first article, that there is no stigma attached to the speedy delete tag. We are both trying to make Wikipedia better, and I am happy to answer any further questions you have. Please reply to my talk page if you need to - Fritzpoll (talk) 11:13, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, one of the sources you have added is Answers.com, which simply copies information out of Wikipedia (look at the top, and it actually says "Wikipedia: UpShift StrikeRacer". What it has done here is copy information from an article on this subject that has already been deleted. Since you are new, here is a quick demo of "deletion logs" - [1] gives the log for everything that happens with a particular page. Note that there are two entries, one of which is you creating the redirect, and the other is an administrator deleting the article that you have now referenced. The answers.com source isn't particularly useful in this case. - Fritzpoll (talk) 12:50, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
Image:Php-logo.gif listed for deletion
[edit]Thank you for uploading the image Php-logo.gif. However, it has been listed for deletion, because it has been superseded by a vector version (PHP-logo.svg). See also the discussion of this. Thank you for your time. Cheers, Face 20:46, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Php-logo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Php-logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:06, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
