A tag has been placed on User:Starlightretail, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Frost 08:36, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because it has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must follow all these steps:

  1. Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  2. Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  3. Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  4. Provide a new username.

To do this, insert the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (your reason here) --Starlightretail (talk) 08:52, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The page for Starlight Retail Inc. should not be deleted because it provides verifiable and neutral information about a significant multinational technology company. The content adheres to Wikipedia's notability guidelines, offering an overview of the company's history, operations, partnerships, and global presence. The information is presented in an encyclopedic manner, without any promotional language, and highlights the company's relevance in the technology sector. Moreover, Starlight Retail Inc.'s partnerships with major industry players such as Microsoft, IBM, and Google Cloud further establish its notability and importance in the SaaS and technology industry.

The page was created to inform the public about the company's role and impact within its industry, supported by verifiable details. I believe this aligns with Wikipedia's mission to provide reliable information to its users.

Thank you for considering this contestation.

You gravely misunderstand the notability guidelines and more generally what we do here. Wikipedia is not for merely "informing the public" about anything and is not a place for companies to tell the world about themselves and what they do. Wikipedia articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject, who take note of coverage of a topic by independent reliable sources and choose to write about it. Please read WP:COI and WP:PAID. If you want to write about something other than your company, please follow the instructions provided above carefully to make an unblock request. 331dot (talk) 12:48, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We have articles here, not pages. They are not "pages for" the subject, but articles about the subject, no different than if The New York Times writes about your company. 331dot (talk) 12:49, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
