"annexation" vs "entering"

[edit]

I've tried to reason with said user but he's opposed to any changes to the status quo. To say that China "entered" Tibet and India "annexed" Goa is a joke and a real misrepresentation of the action "entering" considering the hundreds if not thousands that died when China invaded Tibet. I can accept that India did annex Goa with military force so I won't challenge that edit. Ofcourse that is casting aside the fact that the Portugese invaded and colonized Goa which originally belonged to many ancient Indian empires including the Mauryan empire (oh well... to hell with the truth).

If you look at his contributions (see [[1]]) over the months, it seems like he's subtly been adding Pro-China/Anti-India bias to the article and it's very clear that he doesn't believe in a Neutral POV. Vedant (talk) 00:11, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@Vedant I have posted a reply in your talk page. Swift&silent (talk) 16:21, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well if he persists, he'll eventually wind up with a ticket going straight to banland. He's already received several blocks for disruptive behaviour/sockpuppetry in the past. Time will tell... Vedant (talk) 12:42, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just thought I'd let you know that our friend is trying to argue that China peacefully entered Tibet. See the talk page entertainment for more information :). Vedant (talk) 21:26, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So you too have noticed that Chinese think of using military as a "Peaceful" mean of "Pacifying" unrest? I think it is more funny than annoying :>.But of course it is incorrect I think it has something to do with their "Patriotic Re-education(?)".

Sorry for the late reply, I don't usually monitor other user's talk pages so I didn't know you had actually replied. I in general don't believe that using the armed forces of a country is a peaceful means of pacifying unrest be it China, India, the United States or any other country. That being said, people like Xingdong are only interesting in spinning their own version of the truth which often involves vilifying one side while praising the other side for its innocence. Though, he has been laying low as of late... Vedant (talk) 01:31, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sino-Indian War

[edit]

Could you explain this revert of yours? I don't understand what you don't like about it. Quigley (talk) 22:08, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you have high quality sources that "say the opposite of my edit", then present them in addition to my text instead of removing it. I don't think they are easy to find. Meta-analyses are necessarily generalizations, and mine would not be the only (or least truthful) one in the article. Quigley (talk) 19:53, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

WikiProject India Tag & Assess 2012 Contest

[edit]

Hello friends, we are a number of editors from WikiProject India have got together to assess the many thousands of articles under the stewardship of the project, and we'd love to have you, a fellow member, join us. These articles require assessment, that is, the addition of a WikiProject template to the talk page of an article, assessing it for quality and importance and adding a few extra parameters to it.

As of March 11, 2012, 07:00 UTC, WikiProject India has 95,998 articles under its stewardship. Of these 13,980 articles are completely unassessed (both for class and importance) and another 42,415 articles are unassessed for importance only. Accordingly, a Tag & Assess 2012 drive-cum-contest has begun from March 01, 2012 to last till May 31, 2012.

If you are new to assessment, you can learn the minimum about how to evaluate from Part One of the Assessment Guide. Part Two of the Guide will help you learn to employ the full functionality of the talk page template, should you choose to do so.

You can sign up on the Tag & Assess page. There are a number of awards to be given in recognition of your efforts. Come & join us to take part in this exciting new venture. You'll learn more about India in this way.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
