{{helpme}} I don't understand why we're marked for deletion. All of our competitors have wikipedia pages. Why wouldn't we be able to have one? Taborcommunications (talk) 22:53, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked because of the reasons explained in the yellow block notice below. --Stephen 22:57, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}

but that's not helpful. Why is it that all of our competitors can have pages, but we cannot? Why would our history be any less significant than theirs? We only want equal footing.Taborcommunications (talk) 23:00, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please read the information below, especially WP:FAQ/Organization. Your article did not have a single third party reference explaining why your company is notable --Stephen 23:10, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Apparently, we're not allowed to post about our own organization under a username that reflects who we are. We only want to be above board and have the same presence that our competitors enjoy on Wikipedia. We're not looking for an advertisement, just to have our place in history in the same manner our competitors have. Further, we intend to provide historical information about the High Performance Computing industry that we serve. Our publications are authorities in this space. We don't understand your policy that asks users to come in and be subversive about who they are in order to post records.

Decline reason:

You're missing one point: we discourage to the point of disallowing people and companies from writing about themselves on Wikipedia. Please see our conflict of interest policies as well as our suggestions for organizations. --jpgordon::==( o ) 23:17, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} With due respect, we only wanted to include the same kind of information that our competitors have already established within these walls about themselves. True, they probably did it through subversive, non-transparent usernames and agencies acting on their behalf. We believe that our organization belongs in wikipedia. We were the first online subscription publication back in the 90's, and have been covering the frontlines of High Performance Computing since the industry was an infant. I can't understand why you'd allow our competitors to have established pages, but delete ours.

With all due respect, information that our competitors have already established within these walls about themselves is an assumption that, to my knowledge, is not supported by the facts. If you have evidence to the contrary, please let us know so we can rectify the situation. You aren't being singled out here - many businesses and organizations every day learn that they may not edit Wikipedia on articles about themselves. --jpgordon::==( o ) 23:34, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Tabor Communications, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. iGeMiNix/What's up?/My Stuff 22:41, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organization for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.
