Hi Tborwick:
I've tagged your article for speedy deletion as non-notable and a copyvio of the blog you linked from. This topic may end up being notable, but it's too recent to be able to establish notability and provide reliable sources. If it ends up being picked up by mainstream media (online or print), I'd be more than happy to help you create an article that would meet WP's guidelines for inclusion. Please keep in touch if this is a goal of yours. Anchoress (talk) 23:36, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Here is some media on the issue:
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/us_world/2008/02/13/2008-02-13_controversial_90day_jane_blogger_maintai-1.html http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/webscout/2008/02/im-going-to-kil.html
- It is important that this is put up as it has affected allot of people and many psychological associations are concerned with the effects that this may increase suicide among college students.
- Hi, Tborwick:
- First, just to let you know, I've formatted your response to me in line with our talkpage conventions, by indenting each of your paragraphs using a : at the beginning of each paragraph. Second, you can sign your talkpage comments using four tildes (~), and the Wiki software will automatically add the date and time of your comment, along with your username.
- Third... I am totally on your side - I am what is considered an 'inclusionist' on Wikipedia - I don't like to see articles deleted under normal circumstances. BUT... Wikipedia doesn't exist to keep people from committing suicide - it exists to provide comprehensive, neutral coverage of notable topics, and right now the 90 Day Janes article does not meet Wikipedia's threshold for inclusion, based on coverage in legitimate media. Unfortunately, the one news link you provided isn't sufficient (I am disregarding the other - which is a blog post - because generally blog posts don't qualify as reliable sources. They can be included to provide supplementary information, but they aren't used as sources to establish notability.).
- If this topic receives further mainstream coverage, either in print or online, then an article may be appropriate. In the meantime, if you are serious about trying to get the article re-posted and accepted, you should read the link provided by the deleting administrator on the article's page, giving guidance on writing your first article.
- I am here for you to provide guidance and support, if you wish. I am an experienced and seasoned WP editor, with several new articles (some kept, some deleted) to my name, and I am well-versed on Wikipedia policies.
- Good luck, and have a good weekend. Anchoress (talk) 04:12, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
