{{help me}}

I am completely confused on how to appeal a block on our page? Is there an email to contact for this review? Thank you, Telluride Blues & Brews Festival (talk) 21:44, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Request reason:

The intent on creating this wiki page was to provide the history of this festival to link to the wiki page Telluride, CO similar to Telluride Bluegrass festival, Telluride Film festival, and Mountainfilm festival. The telluride Blues & Brews festival is listing in this article, without a link due to no wiki page. The intent of this page was solely festival history to relate the the town's wiki page for additional town information. I am a new user to wiki, and pretty confused on how this works, even after reading copious help pages. At the time the page was created, I did not follow through on any content, because I was overwhelmed with the process, and my intent was to return with a brief history, a photo and resource reference links for the history of this festival. The learning process on how to edit this page took longer than expected and by the time I figured it out, I was blocked. I am at your mercy to give me another shot at submitting information on this festival for educational purposes to the public, and nothing more. Thank you for considering Telluride Blues & Brews Festival (talk) 22:41, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

As indicated above, your username is unacceptable; please use the {{unblock-spamun}} template mentioned in the block notice above to request a new one. Further, the article was deleted under speedy deletion criteria G11 and G12 as blatant advertising and a copyright violation; please see the guidelines on conflict of interest, spam, and copyright violations before recreating such content if you are unblocked. --Kinu t/c 01:47, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I moved this request down from the top of the page [1], and removed the 'nowiki' so it'd be seen.  Chzz  ►  23:45, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Username seems incorrect? I thought that the article name needed to be the user name? This seems to be the violation, and I thought the username is the article name for the content? In other words, I thought the user name is the name of the article, which is Telluride Blues & Brews festival. Since this is incorrect, how do I change my user name to reflect Bill or something else? Thank youTelluride Blues & Brews Festival (talk) 22:41, 17 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural decline, as you didn't actually request an unblock with the template. All the information you need is in the block notice (i.e. the first red box with an X in the corner). Read it thoroughly and make sure you understand why you're blocked (it explains in detail). It also contains instructions on what you need to do to get unblocked and stay unblocked. In sum, yes, the username is a problem, and no, it most certainly is not supposed to be the same as an article name. If you have any questions, ask below, but don't use an unblock template for questions alone. Swarm X 05:03, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

*I have fixed your request. Also, please not remove declined requests while you are still blocked. --Kinu t/c 22:42, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
