Message about username
[edit]The following message sounds a bit officious but it is a standard message. You seem to be using Wikipedia very responsibly, but it would still be a good idea to adopt a different name.
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Teshuvas HaMinim) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.
There are two issues with this:
- It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
- Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.
Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Talk:Jesus and Messianic prophecy#External link suggestion. Thank you. - Fayenatic (talk) 15:29, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
- I apologize if my response seems like I'm being difficult. It is my opinion that my edits speak for themselves. I will not deny that the possibility exist that I have or will inadvertently make missteps, but I believe I have been cautious and my contributions have aided in increasing the neutrality of the article I have contributed to. My contributions have included providing references for positions I reject. I have chosen a username which reflects my pov and interest in the topic. I certainly hear your concern but if my contributions are not welcome because of my username, please feel free to remove them. You can be assured I will not take it personally.--Teshuvas HaMinim (talk) 05:30, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for this reply. Your contributions to date appear to be entirely commendable, and I have no intention of removing them; it's just your user name that I was writing about. Editors who adopt a company name as their user name usually either change user name or find themselves blocked; this is not such a clear case, but you seem to be representing a website which appears to be the work of a group rather than an individual. As an experienced editor, it's my advice to you to change your username, which is easier if done sooner rather than later. However, I'm not going to take any further action over the matter. It's up to you.
- Thank you for contributing here—I hope you will continue under one name or another! - Fayenatic (talk) 12:18, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- I see you have moved—welcome again! Feel free to delete the above if you would prefer to do so. - Fayenatic (talk) 17:17, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
