- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
- Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Bare URLs
[edit]Thanks for citing a source to support the addition you made to Robert Aderholt. As you might be aware, verifiability is a core policy on Wikipedia and citing sources is especially important when writing about living people. However, you linked a bare URL when you cited your source. This isn't recommended because, in the event of link rot, it's more difficult to track down an archived version of a webpage linked from a bare URL. For a tutorial on how to properly format references on Wikipedia, see Help:Referencing for beginners. Although it's not mandatory, a lot of editors (myself included) use citation templates because they're easy to use and produce standardized, well-formatted citations. I'd be happy to answer any further questions you might have, but you'd probably receive a quicker response from more editors if you start a discussion at the Teahouse, which is a forum specifically designated for new editors to ask questions.
