Dear Helpfulone, I hope you are doing well. Haven't spoke to you in a long time. I would appreciate it if you would take a look at this article. Maybe you could tweak up the citations (form). I have just posted a rather neat "hook" for a WP:DYK (tallest barber pole), although trying to get this to qualify as being "expanded" may be somewhat difficult. Any suggestions or help you might offer would be sincerely appreciated. Congratulations on your promotion to WP:Administrator. Best to you. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 23:39, 13 November 2010 (UTC) Stan[reply]

ACC tool

If you haven't already noticed, I made an edit on my talk page saying that it was me who made the request. Inka888 23:40, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Oh God, no (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 00:31, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thehelpfulone, please also see User_talk:Inka_888/Archive_2#ACC_interface_request and User_talk:Inka_888/Archive_2#Account_creation_Process. I have serious concerns over this access; I don't trust Inka 888 to manage custom closes correctly (see related mailing list thread) or handle the private information. My experiences with him in the recent past do not give me confidence. I strongly suggest you rethink this decision. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 00:46, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please provide a reason within the last month that would lead you to that conclusion. Inka888 00:55, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The last month? That's too short. You know full well my reasons, but if you insist, see User_talk:Inka_888/Archive_2#ACC_interface_request and the post right below it. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 00:58, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and the one below that, too. "Misread the G1 criteria"? You won't be believed if you misread the ACC guide, too. But I still don't think you understand the gravity of ACC and we've had so many incidents with it before, I am wary of all newer users getting access to it too eargerly. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 01:00, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There's no valid reason ... and far to little WP:COMPETENCE to have this tool at this time. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 01:42, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Note for Thehelpfulone: please note that User:BWilkins opposes most granting of extra tools and the only reasons he provides are "oh god no", "there ares till too many polices that you misunderstand", "you don't have enough competence", all of which he does not provide concrete examples to back up what he is saying. Also just to get this out there, I misread "This excludes poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, implausible theories, vandalism and hoaxes, fictional material, coherent non-English material, and poorly translated material" as "This includes poor writing, partisan screeds, obscene remarks, implausible theories, vandalism and hoaxes, fictional material, coherent non-English material, and poorly translated material". It was a simple mistake on a very stressful day. Inka888 06:40, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have been happy to grant privileges to editors who show the correct aptitude. It does not take much searching to see where you don't have it, are increasingly desparate for enhanced rights, and completely deny ever doing anything wrong/saying "it's no big deal". You're a danger to Wikipedia at this point in your career. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:06, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. I didn't see the threads that so recently have denied this user ACC access. I am willing to re-consider my decision - Fetchcomms can you please provide me with the mailing list thread links? I think most ACC tool admins would say that if there are serious "problems" with users then it's best to not grant them access, as we have plenty of people willing to help, a surplus I believe! :) The Helpful One 11:04, 20 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Inka, Bwilkins opposes giving you tools because you need to demonstrate more competence for a longer period of time. The recent threads on your talk page do not show that. Thehelpfulone, I am not sure how to link to the malling list threads; however, there have been concerns several months ago about letting almost any user see the private data involved in ACC requests, and more recently (last week and this week) about people custom closing requests in an unacceptable manner. It might be worth popping on IRC and asking someone else to get you the mailing list emails if you don't already have them (they should be the most recent fifteen or so ACC messages). /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 00:44, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think you and Bwilkins should give me a chance before you assume I'm going to fuck up. Inka888 03:08, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You have a handful of total edits, and when you're not "fucking up", you're denying that you "fucked up". Wikipedia is not a game. ACC is not a trophy. Your absolute inability to accept critique and continual stating that "it's not so bad" when your actions are addressed as massively concerning on all fronts. You have a long way to go before you should have any significant tools on this project, and how you're handling this entire set of critiques is a perfect example. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:55, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't and have never considered Wikipedia a game. I want the tool to help with the project. Inka888 22:04, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Fetchcomms: I agree that this is a little premature; Bwilkins: I think you might be stretching it a little. Access Deniedtalk to me 04:00, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Inka, you can help the project in many other ways. I never understand why everyone must have ACC access. It's boring. It's hostile (at times). It's very easy to mess up. Basically, article writing is way more fun and safer. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 21:41, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's not up to you how I help the project. Also, I don't screw up with what I have now, that probably would imply that I can handle more tools. Please stop trying to convince me to write articles. Inka888 01:40, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
"Also, if I don't screw up with what I have now"—didn't I just point out several places where you did screw up last week? Please stop trying to convince everyone that you are ready for ACC and write some useful articles for the encyclopedia. Why is that so hard? /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 01:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The if was a mistake. I really suck at writing I got D's in English all the way through high school. Writing articles is the only part of Wikipedia, there are so many crappy articles right now we should focus on fixing those before writing new ones (in my opinion). Inka888 03:19, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Then take a look at this page or this page and find something to fix up. Access Denied – talk to me 03:21, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Also, if you write on Wikipedia, you can get better at writing. It may be hard for you to accept at first, but people do get better through writing/developing WP articles. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 03:40, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There are other things to do besides writing articles. I don't see you writing a bunch of articles. If I find something to write about I will write about it. Inka888 04:17, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, let me keep a copy of that diff for when Inka ever (and I do mean "ever") decides to put themself through RfA. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL! I have written quite a few articles, Inka, open your eyes. Want a list? User:Fetchcomms/Miscellany#Contributions. I don't see you writing even a DYK. That's one measly hour of work. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 13:49, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Bwilkins, I know and have known that content creation is a large of passing an RFA. Inka888 18:10, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of ACC

Could you please unsuspend my account there (assuming you're an admin there based on the above discussion)? Thanks! --Dylan620 (tcr) 22:04, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dylan - sure, I have unsuspended your account. Wow, last time you were on ACC was back in April 2010! It's been a long time! :) Welcome back to the team. The Helpful One 17:20, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ACC

Can you change my account to the name "Gfoley4". I think it would be easier for people to recognize who I am. Thanks, →GƒoleyFour (GSV) 23:14, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you, so  Done as requested! :) The Helpful One 17:19, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
