Calvin discovers Wikipedia[edit]

  • "A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction into a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day." -- Calvin, of Calvin and Hobbes. --Guy Macon 7&6=thirteen () 13:55, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

Brewery name convention[edit]

I'm contacting you as an active contributor on brewery articles and/or member of WikiProject Beer. There is some discussion going on as to how we should name our brewery articles. See Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Beer#Change_brewery_titles? and Talk:Greene_King_Brewery#Requested_move_10_May_2018. If you are interested, please comment. SilkTork (talk)

Thank you very much! Here's one for you too :)[edit]

I love this idea! Please have a slice too! Emoji u1f603.svg

To give a Dobos torte and spread the WikiLove, just place {{subst:Dobos Torte}} on someone else's talkpage, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend.

And thank you. In the many years since I created this template, I think this is the first (or maybe second?) time someone returned the favor. They are tasty, but I just had a belated lunch. 7&6=thirteen () 19:45, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Oh, this is even a custom one made by yourself – I didn't realize this first; thank you even more! I think it should absolutely become a part of the WikiLove extension or its configuration on the English Wikipedia. I have been looking at the common.js and the GitHub repository for the extension, but neither seem to be the place for such a request. If you have any idea where I can do this, please let me know. PS: Thank you very much for the kind message on my talk page, I can't reply there, I can't have the last word in that section. The same to you. :D ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:03, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
The information you need can be found amongst the boxes on my WP:User page. I am a member. I think editor retention is close to the top of problems facing Wikipedia. We seemed to be oriented toward punishment (pokes), not Positive reinforcement (strokes). I learned long ago that the latter is the best way to get the response you desire. You can catch more bees with honey than you can with vinegar. 7&6=thirteen () 20:33, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

I mean, it looks tasty, but I can't have it. Abequinn14 (talk) 20:24, 14 October 2018 (UTC)
thank you for sharing. I know it's low calorie because I baked the template myself. 7&6=thirteen () 21:06, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

NPR Newsletter No.14 21 October 2018[edit]

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months.

Hello 7&6=thirteen, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

Backlog

As of 21 October 2018, there are 3650 unreviewed articles and the backlog now stretches back 51 days.

Community Wishlist Proposal
Project updates
  • ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
  • There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Richard Wilbur Award[edit]

Barnstar search rescue.png The Article Rescue Barnstar
For heroic sourcing in the face of imminent danger of deletion, a Hall of Fame entry has been created in the name of 7&6=thirteen. -- GreenC 14:12, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
User:GreenC Thank you. I've rescued lots of articles over the years, but never got a barnstar for it. And in the hall of fame, even. 7&6=thirteen () 14:40, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

This is really patent.
Could barely call my talent latent.
Just used my sword
To defend the award.
No matter how I try to rope it,
You can see I'm just not a poet.
Richard Wilbur Award winner?
No, Burma Shave. 7&6=thirteen () 17:00, 27 October 2018 (UTC)
Article expansion and copious referencing prevailed.
Reason helped. This is not the Famous Poets Society[1] Vanity press.
But WP:Before is always the first line of defense.
I am not just a lawyer. I'm a WP:Wikilawyer. And I mean that in a good way. 7&6=thirteen () 17:07, 27 October 2018 (UTC)

I was wrong. Shelby Gem Factory was also listed at the Hall of Fame. 7&6=thirteen ()
