Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers, Tacyarg (talk) 17:58, 24 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Note on varieties of English

[edit]

Hi - just a heads up (as you're learning the ropes) on English spelling conventions on the English Wikipedia (I reverted a change you made on Divergent thinking. Obviously, there are people who use different varieties of English (UK, US, Australian etc.) editing Wikipedia, so there's a rule to avoid dispute over which version to use. The details are at WP:ENGVAR, but basically:

  • If the subject is clearly connected to a particular English-speaking country, use the variety used there (so Manchester United should use British spelling; Barack Obama American spelling).
  • If there is no such clear national connection, then stick to the variety of English the page was initially written in.

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
