The first thing I would suggest is to go to Image:Img220111870.JPG, click the tab at the top, Edit this page, and add some information about the image. See Commons:Image:DouglasSquirrel 7616.jpg for an example. I'm pretty extreme. But description, location and date/time are important. You can click on the edit tab at the top of my image to see how I did the formatting. I edit in an external editor (that has spell checking) and then paste the result into the image edit box. To leave a message on a talk page, click on edit this page at the top. Then put your message in the edit box, show preview and save page.

Were you able to login to Commons? It requires a separate login from English Wikipedia.

For category, consider Category:Actors or Category:Actress, Category:People of China or Category:Chinese culture. You can use more than one. I found these by searching for Actress and China. For the latter, I got an article with that title first, but it had the category at the bottom. You can tell if you are looking at an article or a category by looking at the leftmost tab at the top of the page.

Copyrights[edit]

Be sure to indicate the Copyright status of your images. If you do not they will be marked for deletion. See Commons:First_steps for links to information about Copyrights and Licensing. about copyrights, these pictures are taken from public forums, they were posted on as media release, does that mean i can use them? and the ones that aren't taken from the main sites then i captured it myself, who do i credit them to?

That is splendid progress. Talk Pages is the main way people on Wikipedea communicate and work together, so it is a good skill to master. Sometimes Talk Pages turn into articles, expecially on how to do something in Wikipedia.

I enjoyed reading about you on your user page. Australia is a lovely country. I've never been to Vietnam.

It is common to separate comments on talk pages by indenting with ":"s (see above where I've indented your words). Also, please add ~~~~ at the end of comments. That will put your username and time so that others can reply to you and follow the conversation. This is how I added my name and time to my messages.

I'm no expert on copyrights, but I've read that you can't necessarily assume that an image is free to use just because it has been posted on a public forum. I wanted to warn you to expect comment on Image:Img220111870.JPG since you haven't given its copyright status. Don't be disappointed or intimidated. At that point, you can ask whomever added the comment your questions. He/she will be more knowledgeable than I. I've only been active in Wikipedia for a couple of months. You can learn all about Wikipedia:Categorization, but the quick answer is put [[Category:actors]] at the bottom of your page. If you don't want the actors category, change it to another. -Walter Siegmund 19:17, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:6f-001.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:6f-001.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
