Re: Me![edit]

You recently dropped a note at my talk page...:

Hey,man
Hey, sup? Visit my talk page. Don't know who you are...Tigereye 53

Two questions:

1. How'd you end up at my talk page? 2. "Don't know who you are" ... I don't know you either... should I know you from a Wikipedia organization, perhaps?

I'd like to talk to you more! Just a tad confused on how you got to my talk page, that's all. Thanks for answering (in advance). — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 05:03, 21 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Response[edit]

If you are confused with the site, I am more than happy to help. Any particular articles, or areas you're confused about? Reply on my talk page, and I'll get you going. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 01:09, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Responding, again[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, the greatest encyclopedia on Earth! You seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the vast army of Wikipediholics! You may wish to review the welcome page, tutorial, and stylebook, as well as the avoiding common mistakes and Wikipedia is not pages. The Wikipedia directory is also quite useful. In addition, you might want to add yourself to the new user log; if you made any edits before getting an account, you may wish to assign those to your username.

By the way, an important tip: To sign comments on talk pages, simply type four tildes, like this: ~~~~. This will automatically add your name and the time after your comments.

Finally, here are some open tasks:

You can help improve the articles listed below! This list updates frequently, so check back here for more tasks to try. (See Wikipedia:Maintenance or the Task Center for further information.)

Help counter systemic bias by creating new articles on important women.

Help improve popular pages, especially those of low quality.

Hope to see you around the Wiki! And if you have any questions whatsoever, feel free to contact me on my talk page!

I'm suprised no one has posted a welcome message yet. So I will. (They are templates, and this one was made by User:Neutrality.)

Furthermore, I have answers to your questions:

My first question is, how do you join a hangman game?

Anyone is welcome to join a game that is currently running. All you have to do is follow the instructions on the Wikipedia:Hangman page, which aren't too hard, I don't think. You post something along the lines of {{guess|letter|~~~~}} see the page for more details.

And, are there projects that you can work with a group on inside Wikipedia?

The welcome template above has more than enough information on projects you can participate. For other projects, as opposed to specific articles that you could improve, see Wikiprojects. As for groups, I'm not quite sure what you mean, but more than one person can collaborate in each Wikiproject or other maintenance task.

Have you created any webpages on Wikipedia on your own(other than your user page)?

A few, but not any that are really lengthy. On my user page (and yes, it's very complex and confusing, I understand), there is a list:

Why did someone write you suck on your talk page, and who is Tawker?

The user who wrote "you suck" was an angry vandal who was upset when I reverted their changes ([1]) to an article. I was only following procedure. Tawker was the user who unblanked my userpage ([2]) in under a minute, before I had a chance to. I thanked him for doing so, that's all.

I think that's all of them. Any other questions, seek out my talk page -- I'm always here to help. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 22:44, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Time Conventions on Wikipedia[edit]

I don't know where you live in the world, but Wikipedia's time is based on UTC (you may also know this as GMT). UTC/GMT is the time zone where England is located. I live in the United States, on the east coast. My clock is 5 hours behind Wikipedia's clock because my time zone for this area is UTC -5. You are in the Western Hemisphere somewhere, and however many hours behind you are from Wikipedia's time tells your time zone. This list of time zones may come in handy in finding how many hours you are behind Wikipedia's time. Or, if you sign a post, look at the time, and compare it to your clock at home or on your computer. The difference in times will tell you how many hours behind you are. A second method would be to search within the list of time zones page (CTRL+F if using Windows) for your country name. You might be able to find which time zone you are in that way. Any questions, seek out my talk page. — Ian Manka Talk to me‼ 05:01, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quotes[edit]

Think until you are confused-only then can you truly think.Tigereye 53 13:53, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for leaving that quote at my talk page. Maybe I can "truly think" now! :P Ian Manka Talk to me! 17:26, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Templates[edit]

You mentioned (awhile ago, I know) on my talk page that you wanted to explore the template side of Wikipedia. I'd love to help, but I was just wondering what you would want to do in the template area. From there I can help you out. If you are still confused or don't know what area of templates you wish to persue, you can just add {{helpme}} to your talk page, and a more experienced Wikipedia user should be around to help you. Leave a note at my talk page if you have any questions, or know which area of templates you wish to go into. Happy editing! Ian Manka Talk to me! 17:30, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Though, if I were to say where to look first, I'd look at Help:Template. Ian Manka Talk to me! 17:31, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
