[edit]Hello, I'm Andrevan. I noticed that you recently removed content from Cornelius P. Rhoads without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. - Hello @Andrevan!
- I’m quite new to Wikipedia editing so I may make some mistakes. I left written as edit summary for my changes:
- “The racist scandal Cornelius Rhoads was involved in, is not relevant enough to justify its presence at the beginning of the article. The event is later fully described in detail.”.
- Maybe this edit summary was not accurate enough to explain the motivation of the edit, in which case I’m sorry and I’ll try to be more precise in the future.
- I removed content from the beginning of the article on Cornelius P. Rhoads because I thought (I still think) that that sentence does not belong in the very beginning of the article. I try to explain myself better: it’s not common in encyclopaedias to see in the very first sentence of an article that presents one person “he was a pathologist, …, who was involved in a scandal”, because I think it makes the article look less objective. Moreover, the scandal is later described in detail, making up the majority of the article, so I don’t think any information would be lost if we just removed that sentence from the beginning.
- Let me know what you think. Tobia734 (talk) 07:29, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Tobia, you can start a new section to discuss that on the talk page, but "not relevant enough" isn't really a reason. The WP:LEAD is supposed to summarize the relevant facts, so simply being discussed later is not a reason to remove it, and it is not less objective: see WP:NPOV. We have to cover all relevant POVs, and the racist scandal is a major event. Maybe since you are new you should start with less controversial changes. Thanks Andre🚐 17:43, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
