Bengt Nels[edit]

Bengt Nels born July 8, 1985 is an unconventional surreal and abstract expressionist artist, born in Washington State, USA.

Best known for his uncanny use of paint, and smooth flowing drawings. The artwork he creates is a culmination of what he goes through in every day society and the world, and by doing so he can incorporate a diverse range of indexical images from the melting pot of modern day society. This is done by using crisp lines and many colors. Some of these images are controversial pertaining to some political issues. Others are inspired by conversational free thought or by the subconscious. Nels puts his own thoughts and efforts into the work and encourages/desires free interpretation from every individual. While others are mainly trying to show the viewer something they haven’t seen before, the images he creates are meant to make you think differently about how you perceive things. What someone else is thinking when they are viewing the shirt is just as important, if not more, than Nels's own ideas behind it.

Influences[edit]

Nels's self-proclaimed influences include early to late 1990's Electronic Music and the works of is father. Artistically, he admired Gumby. Also time spent skydiving as well as base jumping for the past 6 years have played as large influences.
