User talk:UBX/jew
NPOV
[edit]I believe this template is not against the rules of NPOV. I restored it to express the Jewishness of a user as opposed to their interest in Judaism. (I for one, am a Jew, but wouldn't say I am overly interested in Judaism.) As for stating the fact that one is a Jew (something as much to do with genetics as religion) being POV, is pure unadulterated bollocks straight without ice. In any case, were anyone to insist that stating that one is a Jew is proselytising, I propose we wait until the matter bakes out in other userboxes relating to religion such as template:User_christian. "Jew" vs "Jewish"
[edit]Jew is typically a term used by anti-semitic people, which is why Google used to have an anti-semitic web site as the top of the search for jew (prior to Google bombing by pro-jewish groups). Jewish people usually reffer to themselves as "Jewish" rather than "Jews". I therefore changed the template --Asbl 16:14, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
Where did this template suddenly go?
[edit]What happened? --Daniel575 07:22, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- User:Cyde has gone a rampage deleting userboxes again. As it will be userfied per WP:GUS, I've decided to take it over. There are (slightly different) copies at {{User:Ibaranoff24/Userboxes/User Jew}} and {{User:Arthur Rubin/User jewish}}. — Arthur Rubin | (talk) 21:14, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
